However, the inclusion of 2 NXL teams in the equation at each event will throw the element of luck right back in to the equation, as success will largely depend on which teams draw the NXL'ers at each leg of the EXL.
Dude I see where ur coming from there BUT, the way I see it is!! Do u wanna win cause your team is the best? Or do u wanna win cause u got lucky in tha draw!

NXL or not if u wanna be the best u gotta beat em all ;)

An obvious benefit to having NXL over is the chance to play against them and study their way of playing BEFORE it is too late at the World Cup.

And regardless of how we seed the good teams will come back into the fray and the best teams will win.

Having said that, I think Nick's suggestion, at first blush, might be the way to do it.

This has nothing to do with people being scared of the NXL teams.
It's about making the competition as fair and even as possible.
It will be interesting to see at the end of the season which of the 8 EXL'ers have played the most NXL teams, and where they place.

Based on non NXL involvement, i would expect to see Russian Legion, Ton Ton and Joy Division in the top 4 somewhere if they had to play purely EXL teams, but it will be interesting to see where those 3 teams actually come when the NXL involvement is accounted for.

If i thought that it would make any difference i would lobby for NXL teams not to be involved, however it doesnt, so i wont.:p

I can see the top 4 next year will largely consist of those teams that have played the least NXL teams, and i can also see each EXL leg being won by an NXL team sadly.

Mak D, take the blinkers off and see the bigger picture:p

Steve, i dont think that the benefit of being able to see how they play will outweigh the negative aspects of playing a team like the Oakland Assassins and being prevented from doing anything the whole game and learning from the game and developing as a team/squad, (worst case scenario, but still a possibility)

If fairness, common sense and practicalities has anytihng do with the formation of the EXL for 2004, there will be 8 teams and 8 teams only, all of which are going to be European.
There is but one argument for having Yank inclusion as against a myriad of others for their exclusion.
The momentum for this process is now building...
