Clarify a situation
The H pac air crew are correct in not filling DOT bottles. They are a commercial filling service and as such have to abide by the law in the UK.
I can't speak for other event organisers but in the five months we have used commercial air fills we made it clear to ALL players that they would not get their bottles filled by H pac if they were out of test or DOT. Witton Castle was a exception due to the Jersey Warriors playing so we agreed to fill their bottles as a visiting team.
Now this is where I now need some help - because I and the UKPSF were given information that visiting players (no residents) could use DOT bottles at commercial fill stations this was verbal and from event organisers.
It has since been brought to light that this might not be correct so I need to find this in writing from a standards body. There is a suggestion that a information directive was issued several years ago to the diving industry to NOT fill visiting divers bottles who have DOT bottles. This needs clarifing so problems are not created in future.
I will keep you all informed
Steve
