Just a question

As Jersey is not part of the EEC and is not covered by Uk Mainland Law, technically making it a Foreign country, will Paintballers from Jersey be accorded the same rights as other foreign players,,i.e,,,if we have DOT bottles, will they be filled?

1.They are tested to the same pressures ie they are rated the same.

ps many bottles are now dual HSE/DOT over here as the HSE test exceeds the requirements of the DOT, so therefor ok for both.

Its not the other way round
Nope. DOT actually requires a higher test pressure than HSE (and I've actually read right through both sets of regulations which makes me both well-informed and very sad) ;)

HSE tests one out of every 202 bottles to burst pressure by the way

Just to clear up this repeated bollocks bout DOT bottles bein used in the UK. ANY COMERCIAL COMPANY THAT FILLS DOT BOTTLES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM IS BREAKING THE LAW. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE BOTTLE IS OWNED BY A UK RESIDENT OR ONE FROM THE USA, JERSEY OR F*****G MARS IT STILL CANNOT BE LEGALLY FILLED IN THIS COUNTRY BY A COMERCIAL ENTERPRISE(e.g H-PAC). It is a load of bollocks but it is the law so will u all just get a grip and stop moaning or asking dumb ask questions that are asked and answered every time DOT is mentioned. If you wanna discuss or debate this ring H-PAC. :(

Correct

The last posting is 100% correct

A commercial filling service in the UK can only fill HSE approved air cylinders, they can't fill DOT bottles. Something the UKPSF has been saying for 3-4 years but no one listens.

The point re visiting teams using DOT is going to create problems since everyone (including me) has in the past said "It's OK if you are a visitor to the UK to use the DOT bottle" but were is this in writing from the UK authorities.

Most have referred to visiting scuba divers using their own tanks and getting them filled, well I have asked several dive centres and their govering body and the answer is NO we only fill HSE cylinders. Again they point to a directive issued 5-6 years ago advising them to only fill HSE tanks but again no one can find this directive. They also point out that most visiting divers rent cylinders as it is easier and cheaper

So the debate continues but only hard written evidence will change the isse that "DOT bottles will not be filled by commercial fillers"

So therefore if we were to hold an international tourny in this country, then no one would attend because they would have to have to buy or rent an HSE air bottle!
Am I right in saying that gas cylinders transported on an aeroplane must be empty?
If this is true then what happens when we take HSE bottles abroad?
Imagine if you had to take your driving test if you wanted to drive abroad whilst on holiday.
Opps forgot this one
Can a DOT bottle be retested over here to HSE standard?

And I don't give a flying fig how often these questions have been asked before. Ask an experienced player you should look on yourself as being a teacher trying the educate the up and coming.
As time goes by the same questions will be asked again and again by each influx of new players eager to learn the sport. Your aim should be to point them at where the information can be found or share your knowledge, not spout off like some self- righteous "whatever(?)".

I and probably many other paintballers are grateful for the knowledge and patience of experienced players who are gracious enough to teach us the tricks of the trade etc.

PS The Jolly Foriegner thing sucks big style

Thanks for the clarification on many points here.

Can I just get one more point clarified, by maybe Hotpoint or Bully.

I know I can't get one filled by a commercial company but If I fill it myself (from a legal Scuba tank) am I legally allowed to use a DOT bottle here?

Or is it illegal to fill them commercially and use to them?

If anyone here uses a DOT bottle and there is an issue does that mean insurance is null and void?

Would they and the premises be culpable?

Just checking (I have DOT and HSE bottle for which ever side of the pond I am on :) ) and want to know if I have to be careful about even using mine here even if filling it myself.

Guys,

Can we keep it a bit civilised in this thread? Some valid questions were asked, and even though they may have been asked before, if you can find the time to type a reply like "it's been said before, do a search, blahdeeblah", you could also have used that same amount of time to come up with a decent answer.

Like Thumper said: "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all."

PS this was in the wrong forum, so I moved it.
