You could just add something like

"all eliminated players must place their hand on their head and promptly make their way to the dead box, if an eliminated player fails to place their hand on their head they will receive a 1-4-1 penalty.
Any live player who acts in a manner which might lead the opposition to reasonably believe they are eliminated by raising their hand above their shoulder line in a manner consistent with elimination will be treated from that point as eliminated, and will incurr all the appropriate 1-4-1 penalties if they play on/talk/fail to go to the dead box etc"

Just a thought, if you are going to enforce the hand signal as a method for determining if a player is out, do we still need armbands?

Although I agree they make headcounts at the end of game a little easier.

I think Beaker summed it up perfectly. Solves both the bonus ball and DMW issues.

I've done the DMW and had them done to me. Personally, I'd rather shoot it out and see how much damage I can do before I'm eliminated. However, they're legal in most tournaments, so if you can pull off a DMW good for you. I've seen Ledz pull off some nice ones.

From a reffing perspective, I don't like the DMW because they almost always lead to confusion and arguements about who shot who, who was alive, etc. They also contribute to bonus balling and overshooting. A well executed DMW can even confuse the refs if they aren't paying attention

I'm not in favor of getting rid of the armbands, as they make live player counts much easier at the end of the game.

I think dmw's should be banned from the sport. People who do these obviously have no playing ability and should be thrown out of their current team for being lame game players. And what jimmy did to the russian legion was awfull and he should hold his head in shame!!! anyone managing to pull three off in one game in the finals in portugal should be excluded from the above.

i hate deadmans walks, i think they are very low and i hate the trouble they cause. really every player not with there hand up out the dead box should get shot, but most of us are to nice for that. would that situation a rise if it was not for the dead mans ?

i will say however, i like most people can remember every player that has pulled a dead mans walk on my team. once you get a name for it expect to be shot in the back of the head regually as teams DONT forget. jimmy is always getting shot in the back of the head as he walks off and russian legion lets say always make sure he "knows" he is hit. the dead mans walk has given english paintball a bad name we are the only nation to really do it. lots of teams in the millenium sieres bonus ball cuase they belive DMW = engish teams.

I agree with ron and alex dead mans walks LICK MAJOR BALLS!!!

I personally have never realy felt the urge to do one either!!! I belive if you are the last man left in you battle it out and play your game.

If you lose you lose! simple as that!
