No Eye covers means less milling which makes the gun cheaper to make.

Good Point...
But even with a battery barrel ect, wouldn't add up that much,
The ego 8 weighs 1.99 lbs and i doubt the extras will add up to 0.5lb.

The detent housings will probably be part of the breach insert.

They eyes will probably be set in a recess of the body coming up from the frame kept in place by the breach insert. Slightly akin to a mini or ion p'haps. They would be difficult to access, but there will be no need to access them often with the self cleaning breach...just a guess
