ARSE!!!

You will be there all day trying to remove all traces of powder coating. Strip it, and get the 2 halves to a powder blaster to strip them for you (let them know not to touch the insides)

Or, better still, buy 2 new halves (cheap) in bare allow from http://www.tippmann.com (something like that anyway) and start from scratch.

When it comes to modifying factory prepped alloy, there is a correct way, and a DIY way to do it. If you do it the cheap way, everyone can see it.

my brother just finished his tippy in a rather nice army green colour. all he his was use this industrial paint stripper, stripped it all down to the bare allu then slightly roughed it up with a fine sandpaper, then sprayed 2 even coats of primer, let it dry, then 2-3 even coats of the colour, then 2 even coats of clear laquer. pretty easy actually. use good quality car paint tho as u get a nicer finish. all in all, cost him £15 all in. good job.

well, using the original coat as a primer won't work, cos it's scratched up, and it wouldn't work(with my luck), but thanx for the tip.

and jack, thanx for ur input ( as well as all you other guys, very informative) i wanted to use spray paint (auto, of course) as i knew it would be cheap.

Pre heat your oven for 15 mins on a high setting. Place both halves in there for approx 8 mins, remove and wrap a towel around one and use a new razor blade to remove the powder coating.

Then wet-n-dry it, 1200 grit and polish it up but leave a fine roughness.

Add the primer, very thin, doesn't matter if you dont cover all the metal, add the second main colour coat, add a very thing layer every 15 mins and stop before it builds up in the corners.....laquer it every 8 mins with a thin layer 3 times....
