A couple of posts have mentioned the difference between Land Use and Diving as a reason to extend the time required between retesting of a dive tank ...this is all great in theory, however dive shops (depending on their insurance company) will still insist that all tanks being refilled on thier premises have to be tested every three years AND still have ONE YEAR left of valid testing regardless of the use to which the tank is put. My local dive shop know I use it for paintball but insist on testing the tank every three years, unfortunately I don't have any choice cos the other dive shop that is only 15 mins from me only fill 232bar tanks as they don't have the newer compressor to fill my 300 bar tank. It is total B******S but when they are the people filling the tanks you don't always have the option. So check out the place you will be getting it filled, so at least you will know in advance how often you will get forced to test the tank.

BTW I know this may only apply to MY local Dive shop but when you consider that specialist insurrance brokers tend to be used by the majority of people involved in that "specialist area" this may be a little more widespread that you think.

Oh and before I forget Dive shops will sell you a fill rig for a lot less than a paintball shop...all you gotta buy is the fill nipple.

Mark, out of interest, whereabouts is the dive shop you use.....we use one in Croxley green (nr. Watford) and they're always pretty good.

I gues your right though, prolly does depend on their insurance policy, as they might have penalties if caught filling out of test tanks or something like....

oh yeah, good point about checking what they fill too, we were lucky in that the shop we use (which happens to nearest) fill to 300 bar, anyone considering getting one should check weather or not their "local" dive shop has a 300bar compressor.

Mark, good thinking batman!
