Yes it's on grass, but it's actually much better than you would think. I last went there at the end of January when it had rained non-stop for about 3 weeks & wore trainers rather than boots, and it was just a bit sticky for the top quarter inch or so. There is fantastic drainage all round the site (so try not to fall in the 4 foot ditches in the dark if you're camping!). The playing area is due to be cut and re-rolled this weekend so hopefully won't be that bumpy either.
Regarding the divisions, they will be decided by the organisers (not me this year, hurrah!
) based on a number of factors including current form and placings in various series around the Uk, plus consideration made when teams ask if they can play UP a division for the experience. As I said, I'm not doing them this time but I can imagine just what Keiran will say if a team asks to play DOWN from where their form suggests!
