People may have known the value from the top of their heads. However they may also publicly undervalue the actual market by putting there own estimates on what they will be willing to pay; dont forget your the person selling/buying it.

There were numerous threads in the past that killed the resale value of DC cockers; this is similar yet updated.

In all honesty though my biggest problem with these types of threads allow annoying twats to add +1 to their post count. As per those ****ing youtube threads were continually getting.
How can a thread enquiring how much stuff is worth kill the resale value of said stuff? If your sensible you'll take all numbers submitted with a pinch of salt depending on who gives them, but what's wrong with getting a general idea from a couple of people who can rattle off estimates in a few seconds? And heaven forbid the poster actually doesn't have any kind of vested interest in the current market value of stuff and just wants to help out

Even if they do artificially inflate or drop prices, we all know they're the posters opinion, they're not set in stone. Just because someone says (for example) that an Ego 7 is only worth £300 once it's out of the box, it's not going to kill the resale value.

Stuff is only worth what people are willing to pay, the reason for the DC Cockers drastically dropping in resale value is probably more likely due to the fact that people realised there was a huge assortment of other high end gats available for less money - plus cockers faded out of fashion...

Sorry for the mini-rant, I'm drinking too much coffee:)

Its not the enquiry as such but more of the responses that derive from it. An example on here is someone asking how much an ex-team Dynasty shirt is worth. Its not the killing of prices but the dictating of them.

Correct as long as the people reading these prices are sensible enough to draw their own conclusions. The classifieds are full of kids publicly lowballing sellers and these threads justify their lowballs IMO. I think that Rebel105s post above validates my position and at least james admits to his prices being rough estimates but no one but Dusty mentions considerations such as the condition/anno/internals, etc..

I also feel that asking someone face to face, a phone call, MSN, emails or a PM is better, unless opinions from strangers mean more that is. Do you even know whether these guys are over 16 or not?

It happens, look at the likes of the UK reapers.

Yes they are opinions and definately not set in stone, which is why these threads are about as useless as what anno should i get. Its all opinions in the end but some people are swayed to listen to those with fancy avataars, signatures and high post counts.

It only takes several active members to create the illusion that their opinion is accepted generally.

Yes cockers faded out of fashion but a DC cocker wasnt about performance (unless you were gullible) but style, the style IMO is still in and the milling replicated onto the ego's. I remember DC selling threads a while back plagued with "dude cockers are worth £350". Its just not needed tbh.
