After lobbying by Dean Sankey of Shellshock Paintball Azerbaijan, and with aid/advice from LPS, WDP & UKPSF, paintball has been recognized as a sport in Azerbaijan. It's been registered as such with the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Azerbaijan Republic, and the Olympic Sports Council.

The team Azeribaijan Xtreme have been recognized as a registered and federated sports club and in addition have been asked to help setup and train a national squad for competition in XBall in '04/'05.

This official recognition has been a great aid in gaining sponsorship from non-paintball companies, since - as well as support from Shellshock, LPS & WDP - Xtreme are sponsored by Lufthansa, Fosters Beer, Van Der Wal Transport, MacDonalds, Shield Bearer & Stimorol Gum.

I cant beleive most of the countries in the millenium circuit dont class it as a sport. I mean its not as dangerous as bobsleding or shallow water diving.
