Could Someone W/ a bettter understanding of Phisics explaine this to me?

I think a lot of the confusion here is from the fact that the "venturi bolt" is totally misnamed. It has nothing to do with the venturi effect, so I guess whoever named it just thought it sounded cool. The intention behind the venturi bolt is to spread the air out around the paintball, and thus push it more evenly. (see jynxfactor's post above).

More then just the bolt would have to be changed to get the a true venture effect. on a very small scale venture bolts do create a V.E. but the problem is that there is only a set amount of gas coming through the valve and this is what make's it imposible to have a true venture effect.

Now for the practical aspect. If we could create a true V.E. it would increase be a counter productive. The benifit would be less air consumprion (sort of) but you would would have to use less brittle paint due to the increased air pressure coming out of the bolt.
