If an air bottle fails it's test, the tester will render the bottle unuseable. That includes steel, aluminium or fibre wrapped.

i have had a number of people say to me that fibre raped bottles get cut in half when they get tested is that true? (this is what is putting me off getting one)

if they cut it in half, how could you use it after testing........? or did you not think about that? what they will do is separate the reg from the bottle, although you should do this yourself and send only the bottle if posssible.

We have used a company called CTS near Liverpool for testing in the past, and I think they still do it - will try to find details. I have also heard that a shop in Tonbridge (Dive machine) http://www.divemachine.com/ can test bottles, but send them out to a place near Southampton to be done.

I think bottles that fail test can be rendered scrap in several ways - including cutting drilling holes or crushing. Most dive shops can sort testing of fill rigs but not many can test wrapped tanks.

Is that confirmed that HPAC no longer do testing? :(
