co2 could possibly cause the corrosion of the material used in air tanks? also filling a co2 tank is more vigorous than filling an air tank as it has to be cooled down via almost freezing etc.

Seems to me the general consensus is don't do it!

Why not sell your air bottle or trade it in for a Co2 one? Or spend the £40 and buy a Co2 bottle - seems the much safer option than messing around with things.

i have both a co2 bottle 20oz and a 1.1ltr air bottle. just thought with the extra size of my air bottle then perhaps i wouldnt need to fill up as much?? nevermind tho. as i say .. i have a co2 bottle so it was just a thought :) thinkin about it i might aswell keep both as they are. co2 for co2 only sites and air for if they provide air ;) best of both worlds .. many thnx all

I asked this when air came out for the same reason... i wanted to get more CO2 in a bottle than a 20oz. I believe the responses i got went something like this:

Couple of problems - one was the fact that the CO2 would expand and contract in the bottle more than air as it is less stable. As a result, the material that holds the fibre wrap together in an air bottle would be pulled apart and pushed together again (technical huh) much more than they are designed to be. Over time this would weaken the actual structure of the bottle.

cheers stan m8. as i say ive get a 20oz co2 bottle which ive been using so i will stick with that. thnx again for the reply ..

i wouldnt try messing unless people gave me a positive response on here. i dont feel like messing with something which could quite easily wipe me off the face of the planet if something went wrong.

I think once you feel the bulk of a 1.1L with 32oz (2.2lb) of CO2 in it you would change your mind, and it's a lot of weight to carry remote in a pack? Getting liquid CO2 past the anti syphon is a real risk unless you run it half empty - which defeats the object of using a 1.1 in the first place.

I made the switch to air a few years ago after decades of using CO2, and wouldn't want to go back. Air is so much better for our climate - and most modern semi's wont run on CO2 anyway.
