Before I get off the real topic of this thread....Nice job Dogs. It's great to see someone else win for a change.

And now for the altroute that this thread has taken - Why do people feel the need to trash Legion? Is it just because they're Russian? The fact that nobody even knows these guys, except for Robbo, who only knows Leontiv, and yet everyone is always talking sh!t about them. Yes, they haven't been able to find that missing piece of their game (or get rid of the one thing holding them back) and finally win one.

And I ain't saying this to grovel to Robbo, or any of that bullsh!t, because I don't even know him. But I do know the guys from Legion. They're all great guys, and friends of mine, and conduct themselves more professionally than any other team playing the game today. Which is probably one of the biggest reasons why they haven't won one. We were watching finals in Lisbon, and a pro player from another team was talking to the Legion guys (only one of which understood), but we translated for the rest of them, and was telling them how much he wanted them to win. To quote him, "You guys are never going to win unless you cheat. Or we get better marshalls." Peter from RL responded, "We'd rather lose than cheat. We'll wait for better marshalling." Nuff said. Love 'em, hate 'em, I don't really give a sh!t, but at least have a reason to hate 'em.

Ok, I'm off the soapbox.

Whose been trashing RL? Almost everyone around here practically worships RL--anything else isn't allowed. The only one getting trashed is 26 'cus he's a backwoods, cousin-lovin' Ozark mountain hillbilly.

Now if you want something to complain about could the boys possibly be wearing dumber looking unis? I mean, where did they find those things? Surplus Soviet era Olympic warm-ups from the late 50's?

Whose been trashing RL?

It wasn't specifically directed at the thread as a whole, but in general. I hear people bashing RL at every event (Millennium), and saying some of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Before I started playing Millennium last year, I had heard rumors to that effect, but then hearing it first-hand from people at events, I couldn't believe it. And most of the time it was pro players saying it. And crazy stuff too, like they're Russian mafia, they're KGB (they obviously were sleeping through the 90's because that acronym has been replaced), they've use radios, they've got chips implanted in their heads so that their coaches can talk to them on the field, that I better be carefull or they'll wack me, and a lot of general "cheater" comments. I was in a PB store back in the States last year, and the guy working there (a pro player) was absolutely convinced that they're the biggest cheaters in the game. I just get a little pi$$ed when people make them out to be something they're not, or dog them as a team. This is where I learned to play ball, and they're the ones that taught me how to play, so I take it personally. That, or I forgot to take my meds today.

And of course, the uniforms. I think one guy from Bad Co. called them "circa 1970 Captain America costumes." As for me, the first time I saw them was two years ago at my first Russian League tourney, and I thought they were kinda stupid lookin. But the more I saw what everyone else was wearing, I started to like them. At least they don't look like every other team out there. And the best thing is that they don't give a sh!t what people think, whereas most people think they've gotta make a fashion statement while they're playin.

How DARE you dog the Rangers!!! They're doing an excellent job of running themselves into the ground. Best in the league!!!

Not to worry, Chris. You'll get used to it. Think of it as the average New York fan's opinion of the Flyers. Now either you feel better or you're foaming at the mouth ready to kill someone.

And, by all means, start an RL thread if you'd like. Might be fun.

Don't even get me started on the Flyers. There's only one team I hate more than the Flyers, and that's the Penguins! Matter 'o fact, I can't think of anything that I really like about Pennsyltucky!
