I have enough fans, and as Ed says, I chose the e8400 for its clocking capabilities. I'm only holding off on the ram until after xmas when I plan on sticking 4GB of ocz platinum in.

The OCZ stuff is darn cheap.

Remember that as long as your ram can cope with the FSB if you are overclocking you can use 800mhz stuff.

If you look at the real world tests regarding higher frequency and low latency ram and unless you are after E-Peen you don't have to spend much. Even DDR3 is rather affordable.

Lastly 4GB is a good amount as long as you are running 64 bit. Any more and you will see no gains. Unless you are manipulating some very large files.

I have had 8GBs in my rigs before, mainly as DDR2 is so cheap, was OCZ Plat too actually, and it actually causes more issues since DIMM slots can get grumpy if you actually populate them all. Daft but true, I had to up the V to make it stable.

Thanks M818, have replied to your PM (wish you'd hit me up sooner!) Now I'm just after 4Gb of decent (pref 1060) DDR2 as the prices have gone ridiculous. Shoulda got it while it was cheap! If anyone has a 775 mobo that'll run fsb at 500MHz happily then I'll probably be interested in that too, as mine is w@nk
