I heard a rumour last weekend that the NPPL will allow radio headsets on players sometime in the future, due to the din caused by audience shouting. Apparently, spectators are now permitted to shout information that can have an impact on the game.

I see good and bad in this developement, if it is true. Can you imagine telling a crowd of football fans, "Shhh"? Paintball ain't exactly golf.

Anyway, I can see how the radios would change how teams talk to one another on the field. Better coordination could result, leading to more exciting moves and more complex plays.

Some people at the site I was playing at complained that the game would be ruined by headsets. I don't see it; electronics haven't lead us wrong yet;) .

What do you think?

It's an interesting ideal, someone should test it out.
It does make the game that much more expensive though, as radio headsets arn't cheap, and you can evesdrop on them as well.
And what's to stop someone on the side lines from radioing info onto the field?

The reason this is being considered is that people are yelling information onto the field...

I imagine that FRS is out. Maybe use real radios? It isn't that hard to make it a pain in the a$$ to find a specific freq.

I prefer to have my radio devices implanted into my inner ear canal ;) :D

Or actually the latest technology allows them to put them into a tooth and have it vibrate your jaw bone so that you can hear it in your ear.... seriously. I saw a demo and tried it out... a bit weird but it works.

so maybe the tail wags the dog...

Could the equipment inspector keep out Communications devices if they wanted to? That is sort of scary, cyberpunky dystopian stuff, there, manike.
