I'm wary of qev's

as far as my understanding goes, the small ammount of pressure that builds up infront of the ram acts as a cushion to prevent the ram smashing into either end. Allowing this air to escape with little or no resistance will decrease cycle time, but will it not also increase the force at which the ram shaft is shashing into either end of the ram casing, therefore decreasing the lifespan of the ram???

Just a thought

QEVs..

Like said above.. I've got 2 installed on my Evo.. got pics if anyone is interested..

There a Bugger to install.. nothing technical.. just awkward to get them lined up the way I wanted them.

Performance wise, I managed to drop about 8ms off my open and close times on my Race... Plus I was able to lower my LPR pressure a bit which in turn reduced kick and increased accuracy.

I know Brian got 2 as well (because I sent them to him) but he didn't get the same levels of improvement I did..

So.. the moral of the story is.. if you like to tinker.. get them.. at £10 a pair (approx) there a cheap upgrade.. and for me they were well worth it!

Plus they look Cool!

Not too sure about the point above with the RAM life being reduced.. But I havent noticed anything with mine after about 20,000 cycles.

mmm possibly i guess, but then i have never broke a ram yet in ten years, cant see it being a massive prob....and even if the odd ram does pop i think most people will risk it for the faster rate of fire

There are 2 types that can be used

Clipards : These are smaller but only come in Brass as standards, but you can special order silver ones.. in large quantities though. Maybe something Belsales can do but I wouldn't think the average Jo could do it.

Pneumadyne: These are what I've got. There slightly larger than the clipards but are available in silver, and ser user servicable in the event of a problem.

Heres a pic of mine:
