A strange one this, what you have there is a nice marker let down by the feed neck?
I actually still have in the loft an old skool S.A.M patriot that has the exact same feed neck on it

Now correct me if i'm wrong here but the actual ball entry point is on the side as marked in blue, yet what you obviously want to achieve is the ball to drop completely vertically. Now you can go the chop shop route that i put down earlier, or there may be a slightly less drastic option, but this would still require welding and a fine bit of geometry working out. but you would still have the ball entering the side only less plumbing above it.
On the drawing below i have placed a rough red line, if you work out the angle and then cut through the feed neck there abouts, you would then turn the top piece that you have cut off 180 degrees and weld it back on. this would give you the metal feedneck vertically above the gun but still feeding thru the side.
I would not be brave enough to do this myself but it's your only other option as far as i can see?
How about stripping the gun and reverting this body back to a trick mech cocker and then use the e-blade on another vert body?
That would be a good option as you wouldn't need the eye and seeing as the mech gun is a slower firing machine then your hopper would be feeding quick enough to keep up.
Have fun deciding
