Also bear in mind the site last year was miles from anywhere so it's the catch 22 be near the site or be near the nightlife with this event it was impossible to have both.
Then I think that whoever did your driving didn't have a clue as to how to get around. From the site to the centre of Amsterdam could easily be done in less than 10 minutes.

questions?

do alot of coaches only run one driver?
how hard is it to ensure two drivers?
does the journey to amsterdam require a tacho break? ( cos that should be taken on the ferry crossing)

is their a baller out there that drives coaches? could you please shed some light on this.

Short answer for you....

Driver must have a 45 minute break after 4.5 hours of driving (this can be taken on the ferry)
Max driving time 9 hours.

Hope this helps

Dearest Buddha

Not having my own transport and being at the mercy of kind individuals or taxi drivers (you try being a girl in a strange country very scary I’m not doing that again!)

I was staying with Phil and the smarts crew, not far from the site 10mins or so and about the same again to town.

Lots of my friends were staying at another hotel, the toucan one, a small fortune and a very scary taxi journey later. Yes he did literally drive me the scenic route and had been ordered by our hotel!!!!! This hotel was virtually at the air port and miles from any were I dread to think what the taxi fare to the site was, it cleaned me out just getting there and back!

Just for the record Liz and my self found the taxis to be unreliable, as single women travelling in a strange country this is not a safe way to travel. Ok most ballers are men but to get stuck on site in the middle of now were at night is very scary. I am extremely glad I left trouble at home.

I’m not trying to put any one off this event or Holland, which apart from the diabolical freak weather what little I saw of it was lovely.

One consideration we won't have to worry about was the huge flower festival taking place it only happens every 10 years so according to our information hotels should be far easier to come by Amsterdam was very full that week!

"Tachograph" measures the distance speed and rest periods, you can even work out how far a vehicle has skidded and at what speed  Thank god there not in cars. I am no longer up to date on the law, thankfully I run a site now not my parents haulage company :) But the the rest periods were a real problem last year ask Tracy Paint who organised the coach of northern ballers or just look at the comments above.

Last years event was precisely that last year! I am not letting near death events, horrific weather ECT mar my opion. I am really looking forward to enjoying Holland this time. The Lady and her husband who ran the Dutch end of the event are absolutely wonderful and I very much look forward to seeing both of them again, last time was world cup I don't know who was more surprised.

This is not an attack on your country, the event or any persons who attended last year just an option and some things that with hindsight could be avoided.

We saw a small child get run over, on the walk to the site.
That was probabbly the most distressing thing i had ever seen.

I was on last years fun bus. My advice FLY!!!!

Also thanks again to Liz, Sparklie and all at smartparts for taking me in. Somebody was bound to get left behind at some point and unfortunately for me I was that some body. Safe to say I landed on my feet though. Nice hotel, with a restaurant and no old people
:D
