Ok, even if you happen to get the co2 tank filled with HPa and get it up to a useful pressure of 2500psi and it hasn't exploded in your face yet, consider this:

most co2 tanks do not have a built in reg like HPa tanks. So if the tank pressure is 2000psi, then 2000psi is coming out the tank and into the gun. Boom! I don't even think a secondary reg will be able to handle that much of an input psi.

I say, forget about it. Just play with co2 or buy an HPA system. don't try to be cheap and cut corners at the cost of safety.

pardon my french but:
WHY THE HELL WOULD U WANNA PUT Co2 IN A NITRO!! Hpa (nitro) is better!
besides. Co2 bottles dont have the little nipples on the side of the rug. to fill it up. the nitro bottle uses a 1-way pressure system in which air only can get in through the nipple. and out through the top.
Co2 , that pin, if u press it down hard enough with air in it.. its fun! air comes spewing out in a high-pitched noise..
it smels nasty though

It is possible......

It is possible to fill a 20oz CO2 tank with Nitrogen or air etc....
the preasue would only be around 1200psi before the burst disc would blow anyway, therefore making it pointless...
20oz CO2.... 500-800 shots (depending on low or high pressure marker)
20oz Nitro @1200psi.... 200-400 shots (if you are VERY lucky)

therefore VERY pointless

This method used to be used in Scotland before they actually relented on the use of CO2.
