I don't judge women by looks, I mean i still come down to your gaff don't I!!! LOL

Onion,
I hope your not getting the impression that the majority of male paintballers in this country are against women playing paintball.
The fact is that the majority couldn't care less what sex you are, only how you play and whether they can beat you.
The stormpigs comment was unfortunate and by the sounds of it made after far too many drinks (I was at the tourney and probably in the bar but I've no idea who said it).
I regularly play for and against the Stormbirds (when guesting) and I know that any team that fails to give them respect is liable to be regretting the fact afterwards.
My wife Wendy recently tried out for the England X-ball squad and recieved nothing but support from all the lads there and even managed to change Robbo's opinion on female 'ballers,
Apologies if this turned into a rant,
JJ

Yeah Sparklie...you tell 'em!

Personally, I dont see the need to put sexuality to the forefront esp in paintball. At my site, i'm just accepted as one of the guys, I swear, tell jokes as dirty as any of the guys, drink beer from the bottle, dont wear makeup or fancy clothes to work(site). I can ref and fix a marker as well as any of the guys and i'm glad to say I am accepted at face value. When i go home to Mr Guppy it's a different story. Now i guess if i wore scanty clothes to work, put on my max factor, did my hair and giggled at the guys jokes, i would stop being accepted as 'one of the guys' And I dont think that would be their fault...I think guys judge at face value. It just depends which face they are presented with....

hmmm...

guppy... i see what you're saying but in my opinion you don't need to deny your female-ness in order to fit in. I worked at a site - I didn't swear or tell dirty jokes, I did wear make-up (I had to get up at 6am to get there - I wasn't going to go with my naked face on!), I wasn't a great marshal - (so I did the paint shop), and after working on the site for four years I still couldn't fix a marker. But it was still fun and I still got on with all the lads and the other girls and I didn't have to act like a bloke to work there. Being a female marshal was an alternative to being a male marshal - (how obvious!) - but why be 'one of the guys' when you can fit in just as nicely as 'one of the girls'.

I don't think guys judge at face value - I just think that's the common perception of them and really it's not right.

Ok then how's this for proof....after nearly a year reffing etc at my site my manager (who is a guy) ALWAYS calles me 'mate'. One hot sunny day recently i got overheated & took off my top & stood fixing guns in a skimpy backless halter top which i wear instead of a bra as its comfortable. To my surprise, same manager comes into gun zone smiles & calls me 'babe' (twice). Now nothing had changed about me except what i was (or wasnt) wearing. I didnt comment on it and later when i had my top on again i was 'mate'!! Sorry, to disagree but i think he WAS reacting to what he was seeing at the time, concious of it or not! I don't think I deny my femininity, of which i have plenty, but my dad was a marine & later a firefighter & he taught me to fix things/ work in his workshop alongside him etc i picked up a lot along the way...this is handy as i can usually fix my own car/marker/plumbing/diy etc. I dont think it makes me less of a woman, just a more useful one! The only thing that lets me down is my physical strength, but then i dont want to be Guppy Schwaezenegger (sp?) and i'm not shy in asking any of the guys for help when i need it. To be honest, as the only female marshall working at DF i would rather be accepted as an honorary blokie than constantly being chatted up or getting looked up & down by my colleagues. Hey! i'm gonna win 'longest post' award form Sparklie at this rate...One female trait i do have!!:D

ok..you win

ok, i back down to your argument. you make a valid point there - i guess we just have to accept that some men do and some men don't (judge at face value).

(but i think this thread has completely lost where it was heading... do we have any more clues about the Storm Pig thing?)

Women are a novelty in the paintball world so we're bound to get mentioned from time to time. If we want to gain respect then we need to earn it by taking the sport seriously and putting 100% into each game.
