Not quite so much to whine, really, but more to point out conflict and somewhat disorganization that exists which does in fact hold back the sport. Players are being put to "inconvenience" by having their gear they paid their hard earned money made worthless, cutting into their budget to play. Hurt the players and you hurt the sport. Golf's controversy a year or two about coefficient of restitution (COR) aka "hot drivers" was an example of unhealthy internal conflict within that sport that made for numerous people on both sides look ridiculous and for little to no gain over a miniscule detail affecting few people if any. Manufacturers brought something out, a few people in high places pontificated against it, then a back and forth child like exchange of "Yes I can use it!" "No you can't!" "Yes I can!" "No you can't!" erupted.
It's the desire to end the spec wars, the yip yapping at each other, etc. My suggestion is simply to have the rules not subject to change mid season--only before the beginning of the season and well in advance enough for people to know not to buy anything that will be ruled against, and with a more rigorous standard of need for restrictions to pass. As present, it seems like rules are somewhat willy nilly these days. Will Rodgers said of Congress, and may well have said of paintball governing (hahahaha!) bodies: "Every time they make a joke it's a law, and every time they make a law, it's a joke."
