Excellent idea. I mod over on a fishing forum, and we introduced this (albeit 50+ posts). Almost totally eliminated the issues we'd had with the section.

The other useful thing was to make the first 5 posts of a new member invisible until approved by a mod, which cuts out spambots and newly registered idiots with a grudge..

you could allso put in place a "guaranteea new member " like get two or more members to vouch for a new member in turn the two vouuching would have to say have over 300 posts
