Re: Everyone wants to be like

But, back to topic. Why don't we see replica jerseys? Why don't we see fan bases of kids / college kids who want to emulate hte stars? Because the fantasy element isn't there. 3 years ago I figured JT would be selling replica jerseys. So far, I've been wrong. But, let's face it. EVERY sport wiht a fan base sells team apparel. I've got a "Manchester United" scarf, for crying out loud! (Then again, they're quite the franchise...)
Point is that if oyu want to eliminate the war image, and fantsasy, you need to replace it with a fantasy that's touchable and compelling. X-Ball is on this track (And I know they read the boards, so listen to me here and mark my words...)
You can't just take a fantasy away, you need to put somehting in it's place that's better, or at least equal. For example, being a pro, or being an X-Ball player (Or USPL, or Supah-7, or whatever.)
It's all about psychology, baby.

Once again I find myself agreeing with you, If we can show them there is something more to aspire to, we can generate a 'sporting image' which encourages people to want to be in the sport. My sugestion last year to the millenium organisers and to PGI was that the Millenium cards should include personal detail such as age, time playing, position, strengths and weaknesses, type of marker used. Sort of like paintball trumps. These could be collected by fans of the teams. Theres one or two I would like to have
And the same with the Jerseys We raised thousands auctioning pro team jerseys for save the children, so there is a market for pro team jerseys.
Sorry about the hangover! try taking the week off and doing nothing-its a tood cure
