Well thanks for calming things down mate, it is greatly appreciated, I just didn't want to get carried away with the idea he was 'aving a pop.

I will however wait for his response before I get nasty...just to give him the benefit of the doubt ya know, I mean, he could just be stupid which would go some way (but not all) to mitigating his accusations.
In the meantime, I think I'll continue practicing my kidney shots...

In all honesty, I can understand why some people might think what he's thinking. After all, they do dwell in the at times cynical world of paintball, where hardly anything gets asked without an ulterior motive. I guess that has damaged a few people. Don't look into it too much.

If you have a legitimate interest in the answer to the question, you need to ask the whole question.

"Who wants a great event?" Well duh, everyone does.

The real question is, "Who would go to an event that had this, this, and this, AND costs this much."

And were you to attempt actually staging an event, you also have to ask yourself the question:

"Am I willing and able to provide what I promise, and will people believe that I am?"

If the answer to the first is 'No' you could still make some money (even if only once), but if the answer to the 2nd is 'No', then you're probably out of luck.

Chicago , how about I ask what questions I wanna ask, I don't need you, or anybody else for that matter, to restructure, rephrase or re'facking' anything to my inquiries.
I have made it perfectly clear there is no agenda here, I don't know of anything in the background, I am not asking for any other reason than to get a feeling of how people would view an independent event in the light of a commitemnt to the MS..

Freddie implied it was a gimme in that teams would 'drop everything' just to play, well, this is not the case because there will be a number of teams who budgeted (time and money) for all the Millenniums and will be seeking to amass as many series points as is possible.
I wanted to know how many teams would ignore series points and go for the independent.
That surely isn't that hard to understand is it?

Obviously I can't speak for everybody, but it seems a good number of teams only goes for two or three MS events. I bet the vast majority of those teams have no qualms about dropping an MS event in order to attend the all singing, all dancing Robbo-Cup.

Obviously I can't speak for everybody, but it seems a good number of teams only goes for two or three MS events. I bet the vast majority of those teams have no qualms about dropping an MS event in order to attend the all singing, all dancing Robbo-Cup.

It's not so much an all singing, all dancing event Jay, I was describing it as a 'Toulouse event of yesteryear' ... it's not that long ago we all went to one so it's not as if I am dangling the event of the decade here where every baller would sell their granny to go to, I am just suggesting it is what we were used to, and maybe I suppose, had gotten spoilt by.

The Millennium guys lost the plot, that's for sure (and I think i might be if I keep looking at some of these posts) because they had something and have let it slip.
I can understand, and to some degree sympathise with how it all came about because the Millennium guys tried to keep pace with the Yanks but the irony is, in trying to organise ourselves accordingly, we have now precluded one of the very real factors that went to make our events so good.... the Yanks.

I think we need to bite the bullet and get back to basics and put on events again instead of our somewhat pretentious and precocious attempt at locked leagues.

I hate the way the west coast is adopting southern booty-shaker rap. NY style needs to come back strong. Keep it hard and legit, thats what I say.

Where were we again? Oh yes, someone ws calling Pete a liar, and he was sharpening his keyboard ready to do some Slice & Dice. Hermitt seems to have receded 'into his shell' (yes, thats right, I went there) for the moment, but we will see if he chooses the path of fire and brimstone, or exercises a diplomatic approach.....

And Pete, the Millennium lost the magic, not just the Yanks. In fact if the magic was still there, more of the yanks would be too. I say they let WDP have free booths there, under the agreement that they have a Heaven Lounge at the events too. That would put some spice back into it all, and give people something to talk about. WDP end up spending a buncha cash anyway, but at least its on booze, sex and partying, and I'm pretty sure they don't mind spending on stuff like that. They really could open some doors instead of closing them, and use some imagination. People don't just go for the paintball, they go for the experience, and the more they have to talk about afterwards, the more likely they are to go to the next one.

Sure, the NPPL or A.N.Other could put on a great event, but Laurents et al are going to straight-up copy the shxt out of whatever they do there, and all it ends up as is a costly educational program for the MS. Mind you, how many times do they actually need to be shown how to do it. The Toulouse events were based on Hyperball 96/97 and we all know it (those that were on the battlefirld 10 years ago do anyway...
Nah, they should hire a PP consultant, give him a budget, and tell him to make it interesting. OR, they scrap all the leaguies as they are now and go open. It would be the ONLY place to play the pro's, and with the right prize package would be a success I'm sure.

Well, even if the MS did manage to recreate the magic of old, the locked leagues would mean Dynasty (if they wished to come) having to play Div1 which is insane.
Ya know Missy, you been in this game as long as me I think and the longer I am involved, the more convinced I become of the sheer lunacy that so permeates our sport at every conceivable level.
It's ironic that for a sport that uses guns, we sure do shoot ourselves in the foot a lot of times

And one more thing Missy re TV, in the last 2 or 3 years, we have had more paintball on the box than at any other time, the last NPPL production that you guys did was about the best in my opinion (and everybody else's by the way except of course the Brothers Grimm) and it still didn't manage to change the downward spiral of sales......kinda worrying don't ya think?

Missy, bout time you did something about our events mate, you have seen the response, you already know the market is there, and you also know of powerful friends that would undoubtedly support you in any new endeavour.

I just wish the MS could have done it under their own volition but it seems even though they have long been aware of what they need to do, they just can't seem to do it.....
