I think this is one of the best things that you can do if you want to get our sport band. We have a hard enough time getting respected with out people decking there guns out to look like M-16 and AR-whatever's!

WE ARE IN THE PUBLIC EYE. IF YOU MAKE YOUR PAINT GUN LOOK LIKE A REAL GUN THAT IS USED TO KILL PEOPLE YOU WILL TAKE AWAY ALL OF THE LITTEL RESPECT THAT WE GET. (just incase I was to subtle above)

Our sport is on shake ground, every time some punk kid thinks it would be cool to do a drive by with a paint gun, and every time some JACK ASS tries to reenact Viet Nam, the rest of us have to apologize for them. If playing WAR is what your into PLEASE FIND A DIFFERENT SPORT YOU ARE NOT WANTED IN THIS ONE!!

How about if I try a bit more tactful response (no offense jynxfactor). I would reccomend not getting that "gun." Here are are my reasons:

1) You are paying for cosmetics. Granted there is my thread on "Style v Functionality" but this doesn't fit what I am referring to. That is an extra $220 on top of a $150 marker. Just get a better marker.

2) I would hate to read on CNN.com that a cop accidently shot and killed a paintballer who had a "replica" M-16. The Police have a tough and dangerous job, and they won't hold anything back if they think their lives, or civilian lives, are in danger.

Now, if you and your family have private land they play on, and everything is safe, then go ahead. Just be careful when ever you take it into public. Be safe, and don't bring discredit to our sport. Thanks.

Sorry, your right Phoenix. This is just something that I've been through before and have seen first hand how it affects our sport. So I'm sorry everyone for my littel tyrate, I just get a littel worked up over this one.

My first summer of paint ball was almost ruined by a guy who came out every weekend to "Kill" all of us. He used to have a Rambo style survival knife strapped to his chest "just in case I run out of paint" (one of his favorit lines). One day a group of kids escorted by a mother came to the field and left quite quickly. shortly after the cops showed up to find out about all of the "crazy survivalists" runing around in the woods.

The field was almost shut down.

Now, most field won't (or shouldn't) alow even red paint on the field. partially because you can't tell if its blood or not, and partly because we are trying to clean up our image. We don't want the puplic to see us as a bunch of war freeks pretending to kill each other every weekend.

jezz lighten up just a bit

I play with them on a military training ground that is used for real war games it has fences on all perimeters and is guarded by MPs. My dad and his friends use the $1,000 paint guns that look just like the M4 that are given to trainees there. He is still in active service so he can pull strings and let some of my friends play too. I just wanted to know what you thought of the construction and the durability of the parts. And since we play for a couple days out there I also liked the fact that it had the ability to hook up night scopes the real m4 would use.
I have two tippmanns and was just going to put it on the one and only use it there. I use my Silver custom 98 every other game.
I was not intending to get my ass chewed out because of it. What do you think I am a stupid ass I wouldn't bring that thing out in public cause of what it looks like.

Please forgive my retardedness if I have disgraced your sport but I still play as you put it War games I am not in with that speed ball I like to play the other. I came in to this sport along side my dad who trained new recruits with the other high priced model.

And what the hell right do you have for calling my dad a jack ass He doesnt try to renact Nam he was just in it and so were most of the guys he works with

No prob jynx :D I totally feel you, though. I go to a military Academy (the best one in the US  :p ) and I tell my classmates and upperclassmen that I am a starter on the paintball team... and they laugh. Well, the misconception of our sport is exactly what you said. "Crazy survivalists." I happened to find downloadable videos from Mardi Gras 2002 and showed my contemporaries what tourney ball is like. The general concensus is "Damn, that is intense." I have even managed to get a few people really interested in joining the team. Last, we must also remember not to alienate people. Flippin out, degrading, and shunning newbs is just as bad as the "crazy survivalists." Lest they think of us extreme-liberal-vagrants who don't like outsiders :p

Well, I haven't heard anything bad about balllistics so chances are you won't be dicipointed. The only performance based piece is the J&J barrel and J&J tend to make quality products. The rest is just going to be, mostlikely, plasic parts that attatch to the gun, not sure, but probably a good guess. So you probably won't beable to put much weight on the sight rail. (not sure what a night sight weighs) So I would check with Balistics to see what info they can give.

Well, geez Mac1011... why the hell are you going to play with a Tippman when you can get Uncle Sam's toys?!! :p Well, your last post puts a COMPLETELY different spin to purchasing that "gun." I'll tell you what, email me, and when I get back to the East Coast I would love to come see how the Army "plays" :p :D ;) So, yeah, I guess that wouldn't be too bad of an investment (circumstances warranting).
