rob has taken it from the forums but said conversation did take place, the person in question came over and asked if we were having problems with paint, we said no and then it proceeded from there. Bo-Bo has just started the thread on here to get some more opinions.:)

i haven't read all the other replies so sorry if i'm repeating something.

But how many paint sponsors only have one brand of paint?

eg/ RPS paintballs have

# RPS menace

# RPS Polar ice

etc

Surely could this person/team go up to their sponsor and ask for another type to try, even if it's the lower and cheaper brand, it sometimes works better in certain weather conditions then the most expnsive.

That way you also stay loyal.

look after your paint better. Paint in cold weather needs to be very well cared for. If it wasn't, then you have to blame yourself. If it was kept warm the whole time and the whole team suffered, then you should give that feedback to the sponsor.
If you switch paint and still don't look after it properly, in a warm car with the engine running and the heaters on, then you will continue to have problems with '****ty' paint.

A lot of people seem to miss one point
not all teams have thier suppliers at the event
Take the PA for example not every paint supplier was present
How many teams picked up there paint during the week, because their supplier would not be there. I saw paint that was stored correctly disintegrate on firing, and paint designed for the cold weather bounce off googles and markers never mind players.
If you find that for one reason or another your paint is substandard do you carry on regardless or do you spend money and buy an alternative from a supplier on site

It's an interesting dilemna...

Continue to use the 14 cases of paint you have received from Supplier X (who gives it you free) but is coming out the barrel as slop/bricks and could (probably) adversely affect your chances of a good result...

In favour

a) you are showing true brand loyalty
b) zero extra cost

Against

a) You will probably get a worse result (which could at worst affect your chances of more sponsorship?) than if you switch paint for the day

OR

Accept the paint you have just isn't working in the event in questions' climatic conditions (despite being stored correctly etc) and go to another supplier ON SITE and buy a different brand.

Against

a) looks bad for your sponsor that the brand you are sponsored by can't perform
b) cost of buying another 10 cases + of paint

For

a) Get on with trying to win the event

I suppose perhaps the most diplomatic option would be to tell everyone one of your team stored the paint overnight in the garden (whether or not it is actually the case) and ruined it and with your supplier not present you have had to buy on site.

But, any suppliers out there - how would you feel about the various options?

not necessarily true mate. we picked up our our paint for storm north at the last round, looked after it, kept it preheated flametec bags, and everybody had bother. in fact it was a nightmare. normally we have no bother with this certain brand but if its breaking in the barrels of X-mags and matrix's then summats wrong.

It would be good to hear from anyone who actually manufactures/distributes paint on this point.

From my experience some manufacturers/distributor are more reasonable than others, but then again should respect that you do get bad batches.

Providing the team informs the distributor on the quiet. ie not tell every bod in the chrono area that the marker they were sponsored to shoot and the paint supplied was the biggest bag of wnak they had ever shot (no names) then i shouldn't see why it couldn't be rectified i.e given option to disreetly use a safeguarded different brand which will ensure the teams back on course or Exchange with a different batch.

Its in the Distributors favour to ensure the that represents their company comes out on top.

Anyone had a player from another team tell you your ball bounced off his hopper????? i have and how embarrassing you think that is for your paint supplier
