I've got an even older skool opinion.

How about the way it use to be? For the larger events - anybody with the balls to play, come play - and may the best team win. No classifications. Just teams with the kahunas to compete.

And the fairest way to make the schedule, would be to draw names out of a hat. Might not be even, but it would be fair.

Can you even imagine a truly FAIR event?

Nobody knows what you're talkin' 'bout, BW. Besides, it's apples and oranges. You might as well say, given today's paintball landscape, that every high shcool football team should compete against every other or that all those Div 1-A, double A or triple A schools are pansies for not competing straight up against Div-1 schools.

Hey BW, I would have thought pros v pros, ams v ams etc would be both fair and even.

Failing that, I honestly think promoters have to bite the bullet on this one and let a few mathemticians devise the capping limit bands for each category and everybody's happy.
In practice, I don't think the effect on the number of teams being turned down is gonna be that drastic; if the formula is constrcucted correctly, it shouldn't mean that much more than a handful of teams potentially being turned away in favour of creating a fair draw for everybody and that's worse case scenario.

And the irony is.....

That the Beardo is on your team roster now, is he not Duff?

Maybe the Camera shy lothario is trying to prove there is no favouritism in the draw!!!

Good luck Sharks, just remember the pie in Piper's primary!

I know! The treacherous *******...;)

Back to the thread: I have no problem if Am teams play all Ams, or 10 Pros, or 5 of each - I just want all Am teams - indeed all teams - to play the same. let's not got sidetracked off the main point here.

Even if we allow that an odd number of Pros means that some Ams play one and some play two, surely this could be offset by ensuring that those who get two Pros get three novices, and those who got one Pro got two Novices - rather than vice versa? Fact is, half the teams in the Am draw have been doubly penalised.

And whether you view Paintballers as sportsmen - in which case you have to accept that what all sportspeople want is a level playing field on which to compete - or as paying customers who deserve a fair deal - either way half the Am teams are getting the short end of the stick here.

It'll be interesting to see what percentage of teams qualify from which half of the draw.

Lavenm - I wasn't trying to be rude - just thought that your suggestion wasnt the way forward - that old system used to throw up real bad anomolies. Worse even than is shown here.

Duff it always seems to be the Am's that get the short straw.
