Liz, is that one of those technical colour terms used by all the professionals? :) With you living really close to CP, I am sure you can just drop by and take a peek. Myuch better than a medium poo picture ;)

See you there :p

Actually, it's a technical colour term used by those who spent years shovelling horse sh*t, where poo comes in light, medium, dark, & bleurgghh (green sludgy liquid). And what type of professional are you accusing me of being?:p :D
Oh I'll be there alright, Thursday afternoon onwards. The piccys printed off OK at least.

Oh come on QP - that's a TECHY question! I don't do techy. Tell me what you mean by colour depth & dithering problems & I might just know what you're on about. Then again, best ask Chris (the photographer) as he rebuilt and set up the PC for me, I just log on & use it.

Sorry Liz... I thought you might have been a *bit* techy... :D

I mean how many colours is your desktop set to use?

Right-click the desktop and select properties, then settings. It should say how many colours are in use. If it's lower than "Hi colour (16bit)" or "65526 colours" then SOMETIMES the dithering technique will cause colours to look darker/lighter than they should be.

If you need to change the video settings then make sure you read the popup message about clicking ok within 15 seconds of u want to keep the new setting. If the screen just goes funny, then leave it - after 15 secs it will return to how it was. ;)

True Colour 32 bit, so that blows that theory.
I have a mental block against techy - I can understand an awful lot but just can't DO it. Had a couple of bad experiences when I first joined an IT department. Anyway, if you'd asked me whether the colour was set to 16 bit or higher I would have understood what you were on about, it was all that talk about "depth" and "Dithering". Dithering is what I do when I can't decide whether to stop at the kebab shop, or drive an extra 50 years to the KFC!;) :D
