This has certainly been moving since I last checked it!
@stongle Of course, a good level of research and planning would be required to assess the business before hand. I would not start the business because I have no background in organising events like this and in general I work with B2B businesses. However I stand by the fact that a business should be based around a goal that is not focused on money. Of course you get lots of public companies, in particular, driven by this mostly due to the quarterly figures they publish. Or investor groups, who could not give a monkeys about anything else. But any business will stand a much greater chance of success with good focus rather than having "Make money" as number 1 on their objectives list. For example Innocent drinks, had a specific focus, which gave them a product line and even though they are not the cheapest, they have gained loyal customers who agree with the ethos and focus of Innocent and continue to buy their products. Loyal customers are worth their weight in gold!
I can't agree with this. The aim of the Innocent drinks company is to make money. They might do this by promoting a healthy lifestyle (and perhaps tap into the health craze / public conscious), via smoothies (5 a day and all that); however the number 1 aim is to make money. Why on earth do you think the founders asked they're first customers whether they should give up their day jobs for making smoothies??? If making money was some kind of secondary deliverable after other peoples health, surely they would have jacked in their jobs and gone and the rock n roll if they couldn't make ends meet. Oh, they only give back to charity 10% of the profits, leaving ummm 90% for themselves (well it's more than that really cos, giving to charity is frikkin tax efficient).

Making money and being an ethical company, providing good customer service etc are not mutually exclusive; but these are not all goals. Making money is the goal, ethical products and customer services are just tools to deliver or facilitate revenue. Yeah you can build it into you company constitution, whatever; but these are seperate concepts.

Hell, you might have the most ethical and benelovent busniess in the World (selling I dunno eddible sandals to 3rd world countries), but if you don't generate revenue and cashflow in the short term you are going to go bust, in an epic fashion.

Just out of interest, does the business advice you give involve staring at goats? ;) There's some "First Earth" thinking in your business ethics.

Lack of vendor's is not really down to the Millennium, they employee someone who is in charge of dealing with the trade, I know for a fact she did not call anyone and I know the Millennium are aware of this, so I am sure they will act accordingly. That being said if main sponsors (KEE and Smart Parts spring to my mind) do not want to attend the Millennium's in their own country and support their customers, how can we blame the Millennium for that? You cannot, well you could but you would be wrong.

Lovetone your right people could have taken there own food, or driven a whole 3 miles and been at a retail park that had restaurants and even a supermarket where you can buy food.

Also Mickie D mentioned it was 4th venue attendance syndrome............. Just so you know Mikey D this was the second highest attended event this year, behind Malaga, why is this? Because of the excellent attendance by UK teams.......... But other than that fact Mikey you are 100% correct......... Oh wait no your not!
Ever thought of running for prime minister? You seem to think you have the right answer for everything.

Paris was an open event, even a whole bunch of SPL teams didnt turn up! We all know Paris is normally packed full so they fooked up with that one. Germany actually is in held in the middle of nowhere, so theres no surprise turn out is low there.
I'll have an event in my garden and probably come in at 3rd place ;)
The M5 attendance at this years campaign was lower than last years, and M5 is generally the division which attendance is based on as all but that and div2 are locked.

The one thing which this thread seems to show, is the players werent happy, the spectators thought it was ok.

In the end, who is paying a lot of money for a poor show?

Not trying to start an argument or anything, but its not for you to argue their case, its for them to answer the problems as best they can, and for a good while it doesnt seem like they have, yet have still asked for more money

Me, when I paid for ice creams, one 3/4 full cup of tea and a hot dog ....... my wallet was raped unceremoniously ....... I would think from what those bastids took from the food I purchased enabled the Millennium guys to pay the wages of 9 refs for a day ......

I think Mikey your living in a dreamworld if you expect the Millennium to respond here. They won't. And Piper isn't "sticking up" for them, but is correcting inaccuracies. This thread might be a real gripe thread but at least it brings out what people aren't happy about, and the amount of posts indicates how wide spread the feelings are.

Perhaps the Federation, can bring it to their attention. The Millennium, or members of the Millennium have a presence within the Federation don't they ?? (Not sure on this)

If not then Im quite sure our Lord and Master Robbo can have a quiet little word in Barry Fuggles ear about the benefits of improving the Campaign Cup in the interests of UK paintball and the Millenniums interests. Hell I nearly went to both compliment and give constructive criticism to Barry Fuggle myself, but he was in meetings in the GI Milsim tent. I did speak to someone at the bar from the Millennium. Can't remember who he is, older gentlemen. Im sure he was in the Malaga Eurosport 2 programme.

Pete, I gotta say I agree with Lovetone. Every year this has been a recurring complaint, so the people that didn't expect to be paying big money for small food, must have been living under a rock. Still, didn't make it any more fun to pay something like 10 pounds to buy drinks for 3 people... :(
Jay, it may be recurring but that's no excuse mate and it seems we live in the forlorn hope that the Millennium guys might finally get it right because the Millennium know damned well people are still gonna turn up without having a nice little hamper of pre-prepared food.

It's ludicrous to consistently allow thieving bastid rip off merchants purely on the basis the customers should expect nothing else and consequently bring their own food ........ there has to be a desire to do better for the Millennium in this area and not just rely on people's default reaction just because it's been consistently cr@p before.

And let's face it Jay, if people just wander in to see the event and what's going on, it's hardly a nice welcome when 30 quid goes on the missing list when giving the family a burger dinner and drink ......

And where do we draw the line Jay, if next time they wanna charge 10 quid for a cup of tea and 12 quid for a coke?
There HAS to be a responsibility from event promoters to make sure their customers are not ripped off ... it makes no sense to divorce yerself from it, none at all mate.

In my opionion i thought the event was pretty good!..

It was the 1st Millennium i have played, but i have been to watch the 07 and 08 event.

The trade (as mentioned) was poor in comparison to the previous years, but it was still good enough for a ton of people to be walking around with carrier bags full of goodies that they bought there, so no real argument or complaint.

The food stalls were pretty much exactly what i expected, so like any other sensible person i bought my own with me from Asda which was a 3 min drive away (and was open 24 hours).

The layout of the site was my only gripe, and even then its not really a huge deal. The JT and DYE field were quite a walk away from the main entrance from the camping site.

Other then that i found the marshalling on the JT and DYE field very good all weekend, i found the Mills staff very easy to talk to and very helpful.

The makeshift road (gravel) that was put in would have been awesome if it had rained.

My overall thoughts were thumbs up :)

So did m5 and div 2 have a good showing in Paris? because i know for a fact that most of them in the spl and div 1 teams had there second and third teams in.

So in mike's defence yes they did fcuk up because if the normal teams would have played the event instead of playing for there first team

I have some things to talk about but will come to that later.
