Well, I just spoke to someone who is there.
Apparently the site, setup and layout is hardly what you'd expect from a 2004 millenium event, with minimal grass (i haven't seen it, so just going on what I've been told), uneven surface, rocks, etc. Maybe due to the fact that they only recently sowed the grass seeds??? I dunno...
Open Xball didn't kick off until the evening (rather than first thing in the morning), and has only just finished now. The reason for the delay was due to the air not being tested prior to the event, and not working for a while when they switched it on (as the first teams arrived), and then the real clanger of the scoreboard (which apparently was only just unpacked and set up this morning), which promptly refused to work as soon as they switched it on. Hours and hours and hours later, the open xball finally get's under way.
Oh, and the Jags beat Storm in their first game. Don't know the score.
I'm just going on what I was told...from a usually reliable source...
Anybody care to confirm/deny/expand upon this?? Maybe it's time for a Pure Promotions type arrangement over this side of the pond as well??
