My main camera is a contour roam 2 (from sponsors contour Scotland)
Contour closed down, but have recently reopened and new products are expected
I also have an aee sd 19 or 20 which has the same chipset as a GoPro
And an eBay Hong Kong bullet cam
The roam 2 measures up against the contour +2 on the specifications that count, but misses on other features such as remote control & monitoring from a smart phone and a changeable battery, but with a mini USB socket can be easily topped up with a battery booster lack. It can last a full day for me if I turn it on & off between games with no extra charge (eg walkons) and for a full day mostly running for a morning and an afternoon session if recharged - but switching off when respawning helps (that also helps for editing as well)
Contours survive paintball impact with ease, for a GoPro (and my GoPro clone) I would use a waterproof case
I've used my Hong Kong camera a couple of times and have not yet had a full lens impact so cannot comment on that yet
On the team we also have a sony action cam. This definately needs to be in its case. But also has special features such as a case that turns it into a proper cam corder as opposed to just an action cam
Currently there are very good cameras to meet all budgets
Things such as GoPros and the clone are blocky, bullet cams are ideal for head mounts
Look up Techmoan on youtube for camera reviews and fair reviews on premium and budget cameras
And he has recently put up a review on what is probably the same as my cheap Hong Kong one - his findings are pretty much the same as mine, it's fine but not the best
(I don't have any current footage worth putting up, having only carried it by hand a couple of times)
We do have footage on the teams youtube which consists of various cameras, aee, contour, go pro, sony etc
