Hi, I am thinking of getting an airsystem, in-line reg and some other bits from MAC Dev. All this should cost £350. Which is less than a Max Flow of the same size. However, a friend of mine said that I would end up paying tax to get it in the country. All I would like to know is.... What is the deal with ordering from overseas??

Any help appreciated,

Charlie.

i had our team tops shipped over from the USA. only took 4 days to get here. but they were stuck in my local airport customs for over a week.

not only do you have to pay the VAT but there are the customs charges and some other charge which added on another 10%, forget what it was for now. also had problems because the paperwork did not have the country of origin on it, dispite the tops having 'made in USA' on the label!

if you know anyone who is over there you can get them to ship it over as a 'gift' you can avoid the import duty that way.
better still get you team to draw up a shopping list and take a trip over yourself. at least what you save will pay for the flight.

ifyou do ship over the air system make sure the bottle is a dual HSE/DOT. otherwise they'll ship a DOT and you wont be able to use it in the UK.

look, its easy.

shop around and find the part or bit of kit u want, then check out all the shops u can. there is a huge list of online stores on www.about.com, youll find paintball under the outdoor recreational section.

then go through the process u would to order a part, all the shopping cart stuff...........then..................check that you can select england or uk as a shipping detination.

thats the only thing that hold up on stores as i have seen it, and i have made 4-5 orders from the US. there will be a few that dont ship to uk and only list the US states so ignore them.

u will usualy get a cheaper price from the states and i have never been charged any sort of tax, only a p&p charge which wasnt too bad, i still got it cheaper then in this country.

so its not that hard of u shop around

Yo Charlie mate,
If it's MacDev stuff you're after, try getting in touch with their UK distributor, 6E. (and tell 'em Mat and Amy in Portsmouth say hello:cool: )

I can't find their number at the mo, but if I do I'll pop it up here. (or email it to ya)

And don't worry about that prezzie, it's still about to be posted, I've just been a bit busy with coursework and exams, again, my apologies for lateness!

I think you pay import tax on items over £100 but I am not sure and don't quote me on that. I ordered a Limited Edition Shocker from Smart Parts about 3-4 years ago and got absolutly slammed for VAT and import tax. Not good  As mentioned by Red Hot, check the standard of the bottle. No DOT bottles over here

If you are ordering from the states, and you want MacDev stuff check www.g3pb.com as they have been brilliant. I've ordered from them quite a few times now... Even sent me a part for free when i broke the low pressure hose connector off my Shockteck FGP reg when a UK company told me it would be £4.99 plus P+P!

Also, i know that they do MacDev.

I've been stung for vat and import duty before... Customs and Excises are @#*!s:D

I think it depends if the bloke checking got any the night before!!!
