i didn't invision it as mark it and the mods get an e-mail, i was thinking more like:
1) the thread is marked, it is added to a list (similar to subscribing to a thread except only the mods can see the list)
2) Mods can then check threads on the list and delete them.

Anyway, just an idea
Its a good idea but it would mean re-coding the site as its not a standard feature in V Bulliten boards.

Just to set things straight, as some posts could be interpreted as being negative, I think I speak for all the mods here when I say that we do appreciate the input and suggestions.

As suggested earlier, when all items in a sale thread are gone, the person doing the selling can hit the report button or send us an email. Many people do this, I get plenty of email that way, many people don't bother. I think that a big shiny button would encourage more people to inform us of the end of their sale (but not all, as many people are lazy), so in that sense your idea is not a bad one. I do fear that it may well be a bitchingly large tech job to get that done... Still, you got me thinking. :)

Thanks for thinking along with us!

Could the seller not change the image to a custom sold image that way it shows up on the main for sale thread, kinda like how the 'thumbs up' or coloured '!' that way people can see it is sold already and mods browsing the for sale thread can quickly see the sold threads without any time or hassle? :D

Edit just had a little look and the green arrow would be suitable so no forum modifications would be needed, of course as mentioned before some people are to lazy but i think as the idea cottons on then more would use it and it would become common place? Maybe adopting this policy and adding it to the for sales rules in the sticky people would take note and the good sellers who post lots wouldnt mind doing it and the rest would follow suit? :D

^^^ like so the green arrow is added to the first post by the original seller, i am not the best on computers but i think if the original first post is edited and the symbol is added it flags up on the main thread? :D
