Mike the stock spring was heavy and smaller (about 6mm) compared to Nelson spring sets, with a matching dialler. I replace mine with a hammer and dialler that takes nelson/madman springs. The belsales REX is a good off the shelf kit - but you need to drill the thread out of the rear body for retaining screw. I have a few spares like hammers here that may work if you want to go the DIY route. Another usefull mod is drilling the body to allow the sear grub screw to be adjusted from outside. Early snipers had to be adjusted from bottom, which meant taking the grip frame off every time.

Well the springs don't fit the big one's are way to big and the smaller ones are just a tad to wide to fit the dialer so i guess i'm back to square one.
I did flip the spring so the broken half sits in the hammer recess and works fine it's just snipers have a slightly harder pull than i'm used to with lapco's,phantoms etc unless i get a softer spring kit, which may be tricky considering it's age.
Dont really want to sink any more money into it if i'm honest,i tried it with some reballs and it shot very well and internally everything is in good condition no rust or major wear.

The simple fix would have been an IVG nut and matching hammer like later cockers, but the early bodies were not threaded to take one in lower tube. Can you confirm (as I suspect) yours has no thread in rear of hammer tube?

I guessed as much - the Belsales REX Evo dialler kit would be best option

I created a DIY kit for my old sniper. I made a hollow alloy bucket which fitted in place of the dialer block, and drilled out the back of the hammer to take Nelson springs. The velocity was adjusted using shim washers in the bucket, similar to the early Sterling's. You'll need to fine tune it in conjunction with an inline HP reg.

Think I've still got the bits here if you wanna give it a go?

Cheers for the offer GT but i'm just going to leave it as it is at the moment seeing as it's shooting ok,i'll probably find a softer return spring for the pump handle to try and get a softer pump stroke.
