1 on 1 is used as a tie breaker. I believe it is a 2 minute game, if you don't finish it in 2 mins you send in the next two. Think soccer tie breaker...

According to the FON article they were tied after three games, that's why the 1-on-1. NPPL scoreboard is probably missing the result of the third game.
