Boundary Lines and other rules

Fine, fine ;)

Directly on-point:

Eliminating players for going out of bounds is not a rules issue.

It's a field design issue.

The boundry line rule is fine; if it looks like the rule is the problem, it's really the field designer's (or ground crew's) fault. Move the boundy line away from the bunkers; eliminate anyone who touches a blade of grass or grain of sand outside the line.

It's a boundry line. Don't cross it. If you're not going to eliminate players for crossing the boundry line, then it isn't a boundry line, and get rid of it.
Sounds like a good idea to me, because it serves absolutely no purpose for the players. I was simply working around justified reasons for having the line, such as for photographers or camera equipment, etc, and keeping people or objects that should NOT be on the playing field off of it.
Is the ref supposed to sit there and go "one one-thousand, two-one-thousand" instead of doing one of the many other things the ref SHOULD be doing?
Yes, because that's his friggin' job!!! It doesn't seem to be too complicated for referees in other sports, who also have "many other things to do". Being a marshall comes with responsibilities.
what is "incidental"?
Incidental - a player running down the tape steps over the line while running, or while diving over a snake at a full sprint, or like in Portugal, the field is wet and you overslide your intended bunker on the tape. WHATEVER - were not talking quantum physics here, and I think that it's failrly simple to understand.

As a headref in NPPL, Las Vegas(raven) and Chicago(nppl) i feel that i have some qualifications to back up my points.

And that is:

boundry line - make 2 of them, the second one 2-3 feet outside the 1st. - means you can by accident slide out of the 1st one but you are not allowded to be in between them on purpose. Out of the second one and you are out.

Starting point: Stand whereever you want, but your gun must touch the banner. This will give us an extra minute each game because we spend so much time to explaine the rules for that.

My understanding of the NPPL centre stage is that it is a "show field" so when you get to play on the "show field" then the boundary would be inforced, would it create that many problems that on ONE field only it is larger and has a chalk line boundary? don't think so but if you are saying that it would mean paintballers would have to think...well how about a compency (sp?) test prior to a tournament start, hell lets even stop people who are over x? pounds in weight, people with bad goatee beards, sad tattoo's (no digs at anyone in particular btw). Change is good and the boundary rules are crazy, last World Cup we could lean over the boundary and fire as long as your feet were inside the line...madness, a boundary is a boundary but it was allowed. Get rid of 'em, it makes life a whole lot easier and means I don't have to twist into some real uncomfortable position to get the shot I need. The only time it could cause a problem was if someone was using the netting to bounce a ball back into the field to hit someone hiding behind a barricade, but sensible judging would fix that.

Well...it's a dead horse but I have to beat it...

Speaking from the viewpoint of someone who misjudged the wetness of the grass and got eliminated for having my feet slide out of bounds (I grabbed the bunker) at one World Cup, I vote for having a time limit rule, just like they have a Shot Clock in basketball...you spend more than 5 seconds touching the boundary, and you're out, you travel far enough that your body loses touch with the boundary and you're out, you deliberately and repeatedly touch the boundary in the course of a game after being warned, and you're out.

As far as "barrel pointing away from the other team" not being specific enough, I find that description adequate. If you're going to start checking angles, I think that's a bit much...or you could just go with Steinar's suggestion and just have everyone's barrel touching something, with everyone automatically starting inbounds so they can shoot as soon as they can raise their barrel and pull the trigger.

I have come on these boards on other threads and pushed for getting rid of boundaries but I have since changed my mind. The reason: we need to keep the playing off the nets for obvious safety reasons. I don't know why I didn't think of that before.

Therefore I agree with Steinar that double lining would be a good compromise. Good suggestion.
