And just to confirm Buddha's observation of a strong genetic component to being a woolly woofter.
There may be a nurturing social element to being gay but I'm afraid there has to be a genetic predisposition if the social influence is to manifest fully into being a homosexual.
And as such, I think if you take your PC hat off ( I haven't got one of those) it has to be described as a genetic malexpression because it most certainly does not follow the normal criterion for long-term genetic success.
I never really understood the reluctance by some to embrace the notion of homsexuality being linked to one's genes, it's not as if it's anybody's fault or anything, nobody chooses to become gay any more than hetros choose to be straight....

If genetics/biology wasn't involved, most, if not all kids raised by same sex couples would turn out to be at least bi-sexual.
Guess what...
They don't.
I once fell victim to some abuse because I described homosexuality as a genetic mal-expression because I was implying something went wrong with the normal DNA configuration process.
I think the vast majority of thinking people had already concluded there was a genetic link long before there was any research evidence and as such, it didn't really come as a surprise.
The problem we now have in this 'modern' world is the eruption (I'd rather term it as an infection) of political correctness clouding many issues, not least of which is the truth.
Some people seem to give greater emphasis to PC than to what's true or right, in some respects it all smacks of the catholic church's resistance to embrace the truth in the 16th century.
