Tom: Re safety vent hole: The Powerball Co2 valve has had the safety hole for many years, but Loctite could sometimes block it. Their new pi approved Co2 valve has an extended inner thread and two flats down either side of the thread which would make a loose valve VERY obvious if it began to come unscrewed while there was Co2 in the cylinder.

Dark Stranger, Ditto your experience. I have also managed to loosen my air bottle from my reg whilst there was air in the tank...and i'm not the strongest baller out there! Be careful out there peeps!

Was it dangerous?

Oh my god! Nick, Ask the Air system manufacturers if they would reccommend the use of non standard o-rings anywhere on high pressure systems. Ask the insurance companies whilst you're at it.

You've completely missed the point of your 'talking to' for putting a ridiculously oversized o-ring on the air system of a newbie player who knows no better.

You were wrong to do it and wrong to be trying to justify your actions wether to yourself or to other people now.

On soooo many levels.

I am gobsmacked, grow up.

No need for that response!!!!!!

This is not really an issue about your peace of mind - you clearly dont get why i'm upset.

What you did invalidated any of the insurance safety nets that protect people.

The 'it'll be alright' mentality is fine until something goes wrong - then people need to apportion blame. When you're the person paying the premiums 'peace of mind' is about being legally watertight.

You're not thinking from the perspective of a responsible player or marshall.

The correct o-rings are designed for their purpose.
Size and construction is important.
In the good old days of C02 the o-rings would expand significantly during "dumping".
For the price of them it's not worth the risk, buy a big sack for pennies...;)
