Hello.

Stripped my Gen 5 timmy for the 342nd time last night,my big fumble fingers manged to dislodge two of the wires connecting the noid to the motherboard push connector. So fragile! Therefore i'm gonna need a spare lead which links the eyes/board/solenoid together.

Apart from shipping from across the water (awaiting price from BLAST),is there any place, paintball or non paintball where i can source these from?

Do earlier Gen timmys use the same sort of lead ? I'l put some pics up another time (left me marker at a mates).

Any,erm leads?

Cheers

Chris

Hi Sid:)

Went to maplins today, they got stuff similar but not the same.

Might be able to knock soemthing up tho.

Its got a small connector for the eyes at one end, toward the big connector at the mother board end it has two wires (green and red i think) from the back of the big mother board connector going to a small connector to link with the solenoid.

I better get a picture,lol.

if your handy with a soldering iron you can general fix any problems with the wires yourself :)

Hello Bonster.

Had a little investigation to see if soldering was feasible, the terminals are so small and the wires are so fragile,i'm in danger of either melting the plastic on the terminal or just burning through the other wires. They look like push fit,but we could'nt pop out the broken wire from the terminal with even a 1mm wide precision screwdriver. Thats bordering on nano technology !

At the moment it looks like i'm going to have to buy a few spare leads from BLAST,still waiting for an email from them.

Cheers

Chris

BigKris,

Possibly a bit late in the day now, but there's a good how to thread for the Gen 5 here on IOG...

http://www.intimidatorowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464

Wiring for the earlier Timmy's is easier to find new & secondhand. Later markers like the Vice are harder to get parts for in the UK. Try dropping Crankwalk a PM on IOG he may be able to source a loom for you?

I've had stuff shipped over to me several times - no problems at all

Sorry guys, missed your replies, thanks for the leads (ho ho) :D

I've tracked down a company in Stevenage who make bespoke cables and leads, gonna send them a few pics of the loom and see how much it'l cost to knock one up,failing that,as i'm a student techie,it'd be a poor show if i could'nt assemble one myself, which is option 2.

Then,in the unlikely event that i cant manage that,i'l be following your advice and searching for ready made alternatives. I scoped a protege "main wiring harness" from a place in the US..your not wrong about the prices over 40 bucks shipped,no way jose.

I've gone from owning cockers which are a nightmare to source parts for,to Bob Long gear which is even harder to get parts for !

Out the frying pan and into the fire, still all good fun when its sorted :)

Thankyou for your help, its been invaluable.

Success!

Managed to repair and re solder the loom today, needed a flippin jewelers loops to do it,saved alot of hassle tho.

I'm still gonna get in touch with the bespoke cable makers and see if its feasible to have them knock up a few spares. If i have a result i'l let you know. If its cost effective it'l be alot easier than paying through the nose and sourcing from thousands of miles away.

Thanks all for the help and advice.

Chris
