you will soon find out if they can cut it, by throwing them in at the deep end, make them play the best there is, its the only way to learn.

They will learn fast, and have to succeed.

there is no point put new guy's in and letin them get shot to fcuk cos you just get angry and dont learn much. much better to learn in a lower Div and training, training, training!!!!

well when my original team started out, we were complete Novices (obviously) and paintball was in the woods. We were coached by an ex Shockwave player. We were entered into tournaments and played the likes of Shockwave, Beastie Boys and Banzai Bandits from the word go. We were told to learn something new every game which we did. We got beat for about a year solid until we really started to pick up the pace and could hold our own against some great teams. And do you know what? We got beat alot, but we didnt want to not play ever again. We loved playing. We loved the sport. We loved the atmosphere. If those players get beat and dont play again, its cause they arent very good players, and probably wont ever be very good players. They should not be embarking on a paintball career if they cant handle getting beat.

Tell me, what are they going to learn playing really low ranked teams apart from sloppy play , loose posture and bad habits?

*hands 2p back*

All depends,
Do you have enough players to enter 2 teams in events now and then? If so split them 2 between each team and keep in your division! They will get experience without taking too many experienced members onto the sideline.

OR keep in the division and just rotate the during games in a tournament.

Bolter's right.

And take this comparison. Divs 2,3,4 would all be classed as Rookie (or whatever the bottom classification is), in the states anyway. You'd all be playing the same millennium division, so any objection to playing in any of the Divs is mute in my mind.

Sound advice from all - thanks!

Cheers for all your comments guys. Rotation is gonna be the best option, from what I can see. Mr. Toye nailed the decision by saying the team needs to win/lose on merit. The last thing I want to do is create a 70% team of sandbaggers! Unfortunately, even with these new guys there's still not quite enough to field 2 teams, but totally agreed with most of you that said chuck them in at the deep end. I guess in the long run, if they get beat & don't like it, rather than hating it & walking away, it gives an incentive to work their damned asses off in training.

I'll go tell them the good news!

Sean, there's always space for you buddy. It's called the bench!

Mark, fancy coming down & shooting them all into shape sometime soon?!

Again, thanks for your help fellas.
