My opinion of the event is very high. I think the Warped crew and all others involved did an excellent job. This was the first big event I've attended in the UK, and it ran very smoothly.

I had a few things I wanted to specifically point out as being exceptionally well done, or things that were distracting enough to notice. This is just my opinion, but I found the same thoughts being echoed by most of the players around me.

Keep up the good work on:
  • Weather. Though you couldn't control it either way, the weather was beautiful! Only a small shower in the morning, and then partially cloudy the entire day!
  • Vendors. Participation was excellent! It really was great to be able to physically touch and see products before I bought them, and there was absolutely no shortage of selection.
  • Air. There was never a time when air was unavailable, and the longest I had to wait at one point was about five minutes. I understand there may have been complaints about pressure, but it never dropped below 3000, which should be more than enough for the length of time people are on the field.
  • Off-game traffic. I had no problem at all getting onto the site, finding a parking space, or making my way around the off-game area.
  • Game entry. I can't speak for the South, but for the North at least, this was laid out very well: It was impossible to go into the game without chronographing every time, and after the chrono it was a straight shot to the FOB. You couldn't miss it.

There may be room for improvement in:
  • On-game traffic. Very few players I saw, myself included, had a map with them. This wasn't because we didn't know there was a map or anything like that; it was usually because we really didn't have a place to keep it in the game, or a way to figure out where we were in the first place. I think a very convenient option would be to put up some posts (just a simple flag on a pole) with compass directions to landmarks on them so that players can at least figure out which way to go. Maybe last weekend's confusion is a perfect excuse to throw a cheap compass into everyone's gift bag, instead of blank dog tags?
  • Medics. Too many times I saw players leaping into hailstorms of paint, taking out an enemy or two with them, and getting up and walking back to a medic hidden safely behind a wall. Players that want to come back in with the help of a medic should be required to stay there and have the medic come to them! It isn't fair to the players eliminated by the kamikaze.
  • Off-game layout. Game insertion points were way too far from the campsite, which kept everyone very far away from their gear. Luckily there were no thefts, but if the off-game area were laid out in a triangle between air and game insertion, the campsite, and the vendors, it would be easier to watch your stuff, go back for more paint, or grab a bottle of water between rounds.
  • Map. When groups of us were talking about which way to go, features on the map very often got confused. A simpler map of key landmarks and iconic hills or ruined buildings would have been much easier for coordination. Also, what about making the grid coordinates "C5" instead of "330 372 NW"? Just like Battleships or a road atlas.

That's about it. I had a blast, and I can't wait to see what is in store for next year! Personally I'll be putting a scaled-down map and a compass into a wristband, but I still think those flags would be a really good idea.
