I've heard very good things about spitfired angels

A Spitfired speed 04 is far superior to a stock ION (I know!).
You would still have to spend money getting a stock ION up to the spec of a Spitfire'd speed (I also know this - as this is the reason I haven't had my 04 Spitfired yet!).
BTW - the ION is best run on HP - even though it will run on LP. The 04 is the opposite.

if you are still interested in the pm6 deal that rebellion had offered you, then i would advise you to speak to loz, since i know he only has a few left, if any now... nice and light, all the rest of the kit too (so can sell on older stuff to make up the price of the pm6 deal ), and superior in my opinion to the angel and the ion

I've owned both and would have to say the ion is the better option for the money you spend on the spitfire you could get a second hand ion and a few ups.
Then sell your angel and get and after market board and you'll have all the features you want.
Yes Angels are better quaility, but you can go on adding to the ion its going to be around a while yet!
To go back to the analagees cd vs minidisc etc . I would say its a case of betamax vs vhs (if youre old enough to remember) betamax was far superior but vhs was everywhere and everybody could make it under licence. so its only just dieing now.
So Ion gets my vote until you can afford a Ego or similar.
