Depends on where and how you are playing

Astro / football cleats are great on Astro or good conditioned grass on a well kept speedball field
But run around the woods in them and risk your ankles on rough ground
Oh okay, so they aren’t the best for grip in wetter conditions in the woods

I was always curious as in the spring I’d occasionally wear them for rugby, but never had chance to apply them to paintball and didn’t want to muck up my good pair

I wore footy boots for all paintball for years. Never even crossed my mind that I could hurt my ankles, but there we go. Grip wise, very good in actual woods, but put a mock fort, or Vietcong village in there and it's like ice skating. Depends exactly what you are playing really.

I was thinking of something for the spring/summer for in the woods when the ground is a bit drier, but will have to find some with some protection for my ankles as you pointed out

American football boots are good in woods and offer some ankle protection but will not be so good on 'punter' sites with forts and stuff. I have always worn Magnum boots even for supair and only have problems when its really muddy.
