Iv been looking at getting some good rechargeable batteries and i think im going to get 8, 2900 mAH ones for my hopper (magna hopefully). Would these be ok?

Also, with rechargeable PP3 batteries, why do they have much lower mAH? the highest i can find is 280. Would these still be ok for a gun?

Here is a quick guide to different battery types their voltage and power output(mAh milliamp hours)

NiMH (nickel mercury hydride) batteries are rechargeable.
NiCd ( nickel cadmium) batteries are rechargeable.
Lithium polymer Batteries are rechargable with around the same powerage as alkaline batteries.

AA batteries.
NiMH - 1.2v - 2400 mAh (Ansmann)
NiMH - 1.2v - 2300 mAh (Uniross)
NiCd - 1.2v - 800 mAh (Uniross)
Alkaline - 1.5v - 2600 mAh (Varta)
Alkaline -1.5v - 2700 mAh (Duracell)
Lithium - 1.5v - 2570 mAh (Energizer)

AAA batteries.
NiMH - 1.2v - 900 mAh (Ansmann)
Alkaline -1.5v - 1175 mAh (Duracell)
NiCd -1.2v - 300 mAh (GP)
NiMH - 1.2v - 900 mAh (Uniross)
Alkaline -1.5 - 1200 mAh (Varta)

PP3 batteries.
NiMH - 9v -250 mAh (Ansmann)
Alkaline - 9v - 550 mAh (Duracell)
NiMH - 9v - 150 mAh (Uniross)
Lithium - 9v - 1200 mAh (Ultralife)
Lithium polymer-9v- 500mAh

Bone packs- 9.6v 1000mAh - NiMH.

I use 2 500mah 'Code242' batteries in a Vlocity with hyperdrive chip & sensible settings and can shoot 5 boxes of paint without any sign of a low battery light.

You can mod a halo battery harness to fit 2 9v batteries.

Code242 seem to have gone to the wall but there are alternatives such as the below;

2 pp3's and a charger would work out no more than £40 shipped to the uk.

yeah i know you can get a halo battery harness for 2 9V's, i had one in the the halo i just sold. But the magna uses contact points so im pretty sure you can get the same mod in it.

Do you know anywhere in the UK that would stock those code242's?

Do guns still need as high mAH's? i know itl effect how long they last, but they dont need to have massive amounts of discharge at once like in hoppers do they?

Not had a play with a Magna so appologies.

Code242 was a us based company that seem to be no more. The only way to pick them up is with an XSV Vlocity.

Markers do not require high Mah's although they are far more sensitive to higher voltage than hoppers. I know a chap that fried the screen on his ego8 because the rechargables he was using kicked out about 11 volts when fully charged.

i guess code242 is out the question then.
I think ill invest in some PP3's for my markers then, just gotta check the output first! 11 volts is a little bit more than im hoping for.

Just be wary of the fact they may have a stated output of 9 volts but kick out a lot more when fully charged.

I suppose that is why people pay over the odds for Bone packs etc.

I bought 2 9v NiMH150 mAh (Uniross) for my marker too, i hope these will be ok? Help, Please?!

Tell me they'll be ok?! lol

Guys, I have found the best bit of kit I have in my toolbox is a multi-meter. Gone are the days of chucking away perfectly healthy batteries just to put another one in to find out it was something else on your marker/hopper/whatever that was causing a problem.

It also helps you make informed decisions about whether you should really change those hopper batteries for that last game when your low battery light is on. Check the voltage and if not too bad then carry on.

I got mine from e-bay for about £7 total. I reckon I've saved that in batteries so far this year easily so it's paid for itself.

One thing I would add though is that these are not suitable for use on high energy circuits as they do not meet HSE GS38 guidelines. But plenty fine for testing out little AA and PP3 type batteries.

And finally... I don't actually chuck any batteries away. Just cos they arent good enough to power your pball toys doesnt necesarily mean they arent good enough for remote controls, clocks, kiddies toys....

Oh, also on e-bay... packs of 10 x 9V pro-cells £8 delivered. If your interested.
