like3 le-pig said, a boa type "rubber" strap wrench, or failing that wrap a latex glove around the barrel and use that to grip it

Si, I've got plenty latex gloves if you want one......
No seriously If you put some PTFE tape round the thread on the barrel it stops the titanium bonding to the aluminium (white rust). Also stops it shaking itself loose on occasion.
