I have a ION as well and to give it it's dues the stock barrel is better than most, but yes it needs upgrading.
I bit the bullet and brought a freak.

But i hit on a idea though.....How do is get a freak barrel but for less price?

You get the freak Jnr barrel from Holmbush paintball shop (cheapest online i have found) and then buy the freak stainless steel back from Guerrilla (Cheapest online i have found).
Now heres the magic part!
Put the Freak Jnr front on the stainless back (makes a lovely looking barrel!)
Take the freak Jnr back and put it on E-Bay and that way you make the extra money back (I had a bidder after just 20 minutes online!)
I am doing it at the moment and i have paid a princely sum of about £60 (all in) for a sexy freak barrel. :D

Downside: unlike buying the full kit, i only have one insert so that is a downside, but i really cant see me really losing any sleep over it so......

Just thought i would share the love :p

But mate whats the point in buying a stainless back when inserts is a better thing to buy?

you can pick up freak kits from as little as £55 - £65 on here and that will be all inserts a 14" front (most popular) and a alu back usualy black

Couldn't agree more....
I suppose i should have explained that i just wanted the stainless and black barrel look.
I like to think that selling stuff on ebay is like giving back to the community! :D

yeah sorry must admit i missed the bit where you said you only had one insert, unless you edited it after i read it:rolleyes:

but yeah the main thing to go for is inserts. you could do what cypha has done but then try and buy like 1 or 2 inserts from the classfieds.

It is also worth noting going for the stainless inserts and not the aluminum one as i have 'heard' (not experienced!) that they are quite fragile and can bend.
Once they are bent it is.....game over

Actually if anyone has a steel set going for sale let me know as i might be interested. :D

na its a 3 piece like all freaks, like starting you off into the works off the freak barrel, you get a front back and 693 insert. then you can change the front back or insert for any other freak park.

Amazing isnt it;)
