my english class is writing papers about a possibly contriversal topic. i have chosen to write about banning or not banning paintball. in places like NY the government has already banned the sale of guns because they are ""supposed"" to promote violence and killing. sorry some of these questions are meant for 1 time paintballers.

1) have you ever been paintballing?

2) if paintball was cancelled would it affect you in any way?

3) what do you think about the banning of paintball?

4) if paintball is banned would you still do it?

5) how much money do you on a average year spend on paintballing?

6)name some of the less obvious downside to paintballing

7)how far do you think the government will go after banning paintball?

8) do you paintball with friends?

9)does paintballing change a person?

10)have you ever done anything illegal with a paintball gun

11)if so did it hurt any one?

if not would you do anything illegal?

12)should paintablling become more known and understood?

13)have you ever suffered a serious injury while painballing?

thank you for taking time to do this. it will really help.

if you have any other input negitive or positive i hope you will put it in

please tell me if you don't want me to use your screen name in my report

1 yes
2 yes paintball is my promary sport with out it id have to snowboard and i can only do that during the winter
3 i think its stupid its peoples not understanding something so they ban it. honestly what good would come of banning paintball.
4 hell yea theres always someplace you can do something anyways if they ban it here ill just travel farther to do it.
5 i havent a clue probly around $1000 in us money
6 um not any i can think of just people using them for vandalism
7 anything people dont understand they are usaly afraid of it. i also ride motorcycles and people fight to ban motorcycles because of things like the enviroment. honestly me riding around on my motorcycle will do far less damage then things like cars, over populating, and other things. the thing is, everybody needs their cars to drive to work and everyone has to have babies so these thing wont be banned, restricted, or changed to make things better. people would rather ban something like motorcycles has a quick fix. so has soon has a quick fix is needed the government will ban something else.
8 yea
9 yea anything you do changes a person, ripples in the pond and all that, but if you do something in a positvie way it will benefit you, if you do it in a negative way it will harm you. so if you paintball with your freinds and have a fun time with it you will become a better person but if you use painballing for vandalism or your the kinda person who goes to a walk on game and cheats and yells at people who arent has good has you or any other negative thing you hurt others and your self.
10 no
11 no and no id never do anything illegal with it
12 yes it should it is nesacary for the growth of the sport. paintball is fun and on many levels. you can play tournies or woods ball or with your freinds or many other fun paintballing activities. another thing is any one can do it. you dont have to be the local track star to enjoy and be competive at paintball and the more people that understand that the more people can enjoy paintballing in its many froms.
13 nope the worst that has ever happened to me is i bled when i got shot in the hands but if i was wearing gloves it could have been avoided. someone once told me that paintballing is the safest out door sport. if thats true or not i dont know but it makes sense to me. the wrost i have ever gotten from paintballing is a couple of welts.

I hope that helps you and best of luck on your report, sorry if i rambled a little bit.:)

1) have you ever been paintballing?
Yup
2) if paintball was cancelled would it affect you in any way?
I'd be gutted and take up cage fighting to prove a point.
3) what do you think about the banning of paintball?
OK if you ban everything that's more dangerous first.(see above)
4) if paintball is banned would you still do it?
No
5) how much money do you on a average year spend on paintballing?
errrrr, tournament £900 shiney toys: £1000 to £2000
6)name some of the less obvious downside to paintballing
Being veiwed as a "war monger" by the un-educated.
7)how far do you think the government will go after banning paintball?
For you, couldn't comment. I'm UK, so waterpistols first, then hairdryers (due to their trigger), computer light guns and finaly editing all weapons from films and replacing them with fruit. "that's nod a noif"....."no it's a banana"
8) do you paintball with friends?
yes
9)does paintballing change a person?
makes them a different colour for a while.
10)have you ever done anything illegal with a paintball gun
nope, just immoral
11)if so did it hurt any one?

if not would you do anything illegal?
Not deliberately.
12)should paintablling become more known and understood?
of course
13)have you ever suffered a serious injury while painballing?
yes, tripped, forward flip to get back on my fight and landed across a tree stump. (my own fault for running in a forest..... could have done it walking my dog) you'll find most "paintball accidents" are twists and sprains, the kind of stuff you get in any sport that involves moving about... not many "paintball specific" injuries i.e. involving markers.

thank you for taking time to do this. it will really help.

if you have any other input negitive or positive i hope you will put it in.
Paintball is the only sport everyone can play against each other with no separations on gender or fitness at an entry level. take our team, computer programmers, teacher, student (give me back my tax dammit) and all at different levels of (un) fitness.

please tell me if you don't want me to use your screen name in my report [/B][/QUOTE] :D

1)yes much
2)I would cry like a little girl, then invent a sport called paint"sphereing"
3)its crap, couldn't happen in the states, and shouldn't happen anywhere
4)absolutely
5)I don't really want to know how much myself
6)loss of money, and having your roomates afraid of you for caressing your marker like a kitten
7)in order to ban paintball, my government would have to ban any device that propels a projectile through the expansion of gasses, and since a founding tenent of my nation is that should never happen, the government would have to have fallen to an underground communist resistance movement
8)yeah, to me, thats what its all about
9)in the same way that any new experience changes a person. It won't make a person a militant redneck, but it will give you a new perspective on the sport
10)sure have
11)nope
12)absolutely, if given a chance, paintball would become a massive recreational activity like golf or, say bowling
13)aside from the occasional testical shot no, but I have aggrivated old injuries playing, it is a fairly physical activity

Bunkered0, please please use my stuff in your report, quote me, paraphrase me, allude to me, whatever. I know how hard it is to convince a school system that paintball is more than ex-military rednecks reliving their days "back in 'nam", so if you need anymore questions, statements, or soliliquays from me, please don't hesitate to ask.

Old School, New Tricks
Heya Bunkered :

I want to state this first. Chicago also has a ban on selling and posession of paintball guns in city limits. The ban is a universal one, covering firearms to airguns. It hasn't really been an issue ever, in a MAJOR CITY it makes sense.

Was the purpose of the ban STATED to remove paintball sales in the city to prevent violence? This can be a big deal. In Wisconsin last year the DNR proposed to ban "Paintball games, paintballs, and paintball equipment" from DNR land. I opposed it, and went to Madison to speak on it, because of the WORDING. If a DNR official saw me wearing my "JT gloves" because it's cold, I could potentially be fined for having paintball equipment. Same with t-shirts, hiking boots, or even a small pack I use to hold paint.

And several times, wording on a bill to "ban paintall" was unintentional. I'll go try to find the ruling from Minnesota about paintball, they ruled that to ban airguns would mean that the Shriners with confetti-throwers would have to be arrested too. In canada they almost passed a law to ban all guns, including nail guns, staple guns, and so on. It was ammended quickly, and Skyball players rejoyced.

besides, are there any paintball stores in NYC proper? I don't think so, it's mostly a non-issue, IMHO.

Yes,religiously for the last 8 years

It would take away a hobby or better yet a big part of my life that i've dedicated tremendous time and effort into..It would take away a sport where I have met teamates and more importantly friends that have gone through the trenches with me in paintball related activities and in many other aspects of life in general..

3) what do you think about the banning of paintball?
It would suck, plain and simple..But its up to all of us to make people understand Paintball doesnt promote violence..It promotes teamwork, communication, learning to trust, patience, leadership, and the values of friendship...

4) if paintball is banned would you still do it?
Nope..Paintball is expensive enough without having to pay black market prices to enjoy the game I love..

5) how much money do you on a average year spend on paintballing?
Anywhere between $3000 to $5000 a year

6)name some of the less obvious downside to paintballing
The wargame image we cant break free from..Camoflauge..Vandals and criminals who use our equipment for their amusement without realising the damage it inflicts on us..

7)how far do you think the government will go after banning paintball?
To the educated, banning Paintball would be like banning baseball, football, tennis, hockey, and soccer...So if they could get away with banning paintball, they could get away with banning almost anything..

In 8 years i have never suffered a serious injury in paintball..Theres actually some good statistics comparing the injury ratio to paintball and other sports..PM Tyger,he may have the info..If not ill see if I can dig it up..
