Is the point here to try thinking like your opponents so you are ready to counter their legislation attempts? That would justify this thread's existence.

Most of the arguements against paintball are rooted in the violent and warlike image of a bunch of guys trying to get good at shooting one another. I think football (American) is more violent and warlike, with a lot of similarities to trench warfare. I think most sports are rooted in martial prowess, including the decathalon. The difficulty for us is selling that (or some other) idea to mainstream society.

This is a good mental exercise, because it prepares one to make an arguement from a well prepared stance, while your opponent is likely standing on prejudice and paranoia.

big big titties
this is where.....

X ball comes in.......xball was designed to be tv showed....

i have asked sooooo many people why they dont like paintvball etc...the same answer all the time...Weekend warrior style stuff....
i showed them a few PGI mags and the pics(airball etc) and they said..." oh...i didnt know it was this big" etc etc...

if X Ball does get aired then thats alot more coverage showing people what paintball is really like...in that having tactics etc....

we just have to cut down the amount of swearing and stuff

but swearing aint that bad if it cant be heard...i mean Beckham swore at a Turkish fan on wednesday and kissed him.... but he mouthed F off....

anyway.... X ball go go go!!!!

my 3p:)

p.s....this thread is becoming another 'How to make paintball a sport' thread aint it

According to insurance statistics for 2001, paintball ranked as the second safest sport next to croquet, so I don't think we're in a whole lot of danger of getting it banned on the grounds of safety. At the most, there may be marker regulation (like you must have a license to have one, attend a safety course etc., like a fishing license really) and I for one can certainly live with that. Even as a hater of paintball, one cannot show statistics that make it any more dangerous than every other sport so on what grounds could you ban it?

NOPE can't think of any bad points to paintball providing all safety rules are adhered to.

Sephiroth, one reason we should want to encourage paintball to become "mainstream" as opposed to a "cult" sport is the economics of mass production. Put simply, this means that the more of something that is made, the cheaper it is to make it and so the cheaper it should be to buy. It makes it more worth while to manufacturers for them to use automated manufacturing techniques. It also means that with a big market out there, you get more people wanting a slice of the pie so more competition, leading again to cheaper prices to us, the consumers.

Yeah, I can't wait 'til I can introduce new players to the sport with: "never take off your mask when you are somewhere where people don't all have barrel bags on, and bring about $15 for a case of paint, we'll get the good stuff..."
