from what footage I've seen, they were playing this event indoors! now i can only imagine that the acoustics would have been tremendously poor at this event! id do the same! i don't think its a particularly bad thing, or detrimental to this game we all like to play!!

a snap shot of a singular event is hardly anything to blow out of proportion! pretty sure at punter sites they tell you to lift goggles forward to let air get to the lens! doesn't seem any worst than this in my opinion!

not sure i totally agree with u Andy mate. our site tells punters to never ever to lift their masks. it could be that "1 time" that the stray ball from hell catches him in the eye and the press would have a field day. Like i said before, did any of the other players have to lift their masks? i think he just made a really bad judgement call or the KLR's suck for hearing.

Its not realy going to be detrimental to the game (however this should be remembered the next time paintball is featured in a TV programme and people begin to comdemn the show because actors are shown with goggles off when talking)

Punter sites should not be telling players to lift goggles forward for air flow. Punters are to be told never to lift their goggles

For context it can be seen on video at about 1:10 here:

Its indoors, but in speedball its in a close environment, in the video you can see paint passing in the background. Its not directly beside him, but it exists.
He lifts his goggles, only a little to speak for a few seconds, but the goggle is lifted and not just the mouth guard bent open which means the seal against the face is broken and there is a gap leading from below straight to his eyes.

With a paintball goggle, if you shout, its seems pretty loud right? When you take off the goggle and should at your mate, they hear you 10 x better.

Remember when Dynasty all used to flip the mouthpiece up on their JTs? Well reason is for communicating. Not looking agg, or trendy, which many people thought was the idea, but for clearer, louder shouting, communication, teamwork.

Now, Im not excusing lifting goggles up at all, but I imagine, in the moment, when you want to win no matter what, he raises them up past the mouth and shouts "chicken in the coop!" or whatever Pros shout at each other.

One of my players got called out at CPPS last event as he bent the rubber across the mouth up during a point and forgot to put it down again when it was game on ... NO Exceptions .. I`m sure Ollie should have known better !!!

definitely blown out of proportion this!!
Not realy blown out of proportion - no witch hunt & he should not be lifting his goggles - the primary safety equipment protecting his sense of sight in a game that people shoot at each other, in a competitive environment where people deliberately shoot at the hard points - such as masks

i think it has been blown out of proportion a little although when i first started playing all i was doing was watching videos of the pros to get the sense of how they play etc and all its got to happen is one new person sees that copys him for whatever reason a stray balls hits him in the mouth/eye and that site could possibly be closed for a stupid reason like that...
